2nd gear sitdowns
2nd gear sitdowns
Yo guys, I've got my first gear powerwheelies down now and I'm getting better at 2nd gear standups by clutching them. I'd really like to learn 2nd gear sitdowns using the clutch so I can move on to tank wheelies. I clutch it somewhere between 5-6K rpm but the front only comes up about 6in or so. Should I be really wacking the throttle or is my technique fucked up? Just trying to get some feed back before I go out and pratice again.
If the tire is already coming up 6 inches then just give a little more throttle once it lifts off the ground. You should have no problem. Most people lean forward and do not realize it causing the front to come back down. Do as twisted said and sit toward the rear, also use only 1/4 to 1/2 tank of gas. Keep practicing, it will come in time.
I also getting good at powering it up in first, and no Im trying to clutch it up in second gear. When I rev it up do I let the clutch out gradualy or do I just let go. Im still learning, thanks in advance.

i get from about 6-8 grand, under a quick acceleration, shut the throttle while compressing the front forks- bouncing as it's referred to here, then wack it to 75-100 perecent throttle, lean back a little bit and up it should come.
i can do it without a clutch on a 96 f3, so your bike should do it without a clutch to
i could do it with stock gearing, but now i'm one down for the front tooth and it's even easier.

Thanks for the replies. Now if I wanted to try it standing up, what is the best way to do it. Thanks

Now, if you try it in third gear, do the same as explained above but use the clutch method. Some like to use the clutch and some dont. I prefer to because it takes less RPMs to get the bike up.

Do not fully engage the clutch. You only need to pull it in about 1/8 to 1/4 of an inch. Get rolling to around 60 mph pull in the clutch as stated and let it go as you hit the throttle with a good twist.

I clutch up 2nd gear sitdowns between 20-40mph.. sometimes as low as 15

I learned to do the sit downs and stand ups on my own, that is why I can explain them well, but 12's, damn them suckers, you definitely need to ask.

I am with you nags.
he is just starting to learn. I am just letting him use the torque to get it up. Once he figures it out, then he should be able to whip up at lower speeds with less torgue.
Putting your *** to the very back of the seat makes a HUGE difference ...it may feel a little weird at first being more stretched out ..but it also lowers your balancing point so you dont have to go as high ( at first that is)
