An R1 wont take much to get the front tire up. I wouldnt clutch that thing in 1st. In fact, i wouldnt even do anything in 1st. It has enough power to jump up nice and smooth in 2nd. I would say keep practicing!! Bring up the RPM's a little more each time while popping the clutch. Keep only one finger on and off the clutch! Listen to the bike more than watch the Tach itself. As it starts to rise, just get into the gas a bit more. DONT CHASE IT!! If it feels like you are, let off and start over. I have stood my R1 up @ 70 in 2nd no problem. A lot of people say start while sitting or other say standing. Do whats comfortable..! Hope this helps.. Sum it up, more RPM's!

Man, if u r R1is not getting vertical in first, means one thing, when u r clutching u r not giving it gas. In 1rst you have to give it a tiny amount, well i m going to say tiny so u dont get on u r ***. Or if u cant give it gas while clutching, cluch while accelerating, u r rpm shouldn t be constant when u clutch, it should be rising. In 2nd gear u have to give it much more gas. that s why if u r learning do it in first, more chances of getting vertical. Remember, always launch at the same speed, and correct according to u r bike behavior meaning if it doesn t launch give it a little more gas. Good stunters always tell u to cover the back brake, but from my experirnce, when u begin to have rear brake control, u r past the phase were u lauch the bike to a flip. So my advice is to wheelie a fiddy or a dirt bike first, just to practice rear brake, even then, u wont be totally confortable to use it on the sport bike, cause it s a different game. I dont know if the guys agree but this is the input of a guy chasing BP on a stock liter bike. Good luck.

 

Hey everyone i'm new here my name is Matt and I'm in FL but anyways I just picked up an 03 CBR600F4I and they already changed the sprockets out the back is 46teeth so I figured 4up and 2down.... now I've been trying to lift it up cuz I wanna get stunting and like seriously get into this sport but i'm havin an issue because i'm not use to having 17k/RMP's my last bike was a 96 Kawasaki ZX-7R and it only had 12k/RPM's.... If anyone can help me I'd really appreciate it I know most of you on this site have F4I's so I figured i'd ask..

 

i'm not sure how fast to go in what gear and when to clutch it up or how to clutch it up for that matter I did it tonight and the first time I was in first gear goin prolly like 10mph and then i pulled the clutch in fast and as i was excellerating through i released the clutch and it came up prolly like a few inches then i tried it again and when i popped it up i ended up spinnin the back tire as well so i pulled the clutch back in...... I'm not sure where I should hit this at... i'm gunna try 2nd gear but i'm not sure at what RPM range i should do it!.... if anyone can I'd really appreciate it.....

 

use 1 finger to clutch it. its alot safer cause you have have more control on your handle bars. if you could use the back brake than go for it. but if your having a hard time clutchn it with 1 finger with the stock levers. try buying aftermarket levers like "pazzo racing levers" i have small fingers and these levers are easy to pull in and ease out. It does spoil your fingers cause once you go back and try clutching it with stock levers you'll have to use 2 fingers to clutch it

 

I tried clutching it but in second gear and i couldn't get it up..... i'm not sure where to do it at rpm wise.... and yes I have small hands too so those levers are really better?.... also i'm still runnin the stock sprocket someone told me it'll be so much easier after i change them out! But i'm not sure what to do im thinkin 4up/2down?

 

i have an 05 with a vortex 47 tooth sprocket, stock front and bmc filter. i am no stunter by deffinition but i have no prob getting the bike up at 60 mph max. I used to look at the tach but now i just listen to the engine, slip the clutch, sit back on the seat and it comes up nice and smooth. i learn in first sitting down and when i could bring it up at 15mph and ride it to redline, i moved to second. the throttle on the gsr is to snappy. my buddy 6r is smother than my bike.

i ride a 600... so getting her to stand up by just pinning it is pretty hard....but ive heard r1 and similar cc bike it you just compress the front and whack it and you can get vertical very smoothly controling it with your rear brake? Correct me if im wrong...?

these people will read you posts and hurt themselves.

Most bikes will wheelie off the clutch, if you're struggling with an R1 it's definitely down to bad technique.

any bike will wheelie, it's all just practice and technique.

so read this thread, then re-read this thread, then practice, then re-read this thread.

Also try and find better riders to ride with and show you how it's done. No amount of reading and typing on here will make you a good rider, just look at my post count

Plus, get some video and post it up on you tube, cos everytime you ask for help you're gonna need it on vid

I've been slippin the clutch around 10-11 rpms and it flies up in first gear. Am I at too high of an rpm cause I scared the **** outa myself today (felt like I was going to fly off the dam thing). Oh, I'm on a 01 750 with a full exhaust and pc3 if that makes any difference. Also, should I try keep my eye on the tact or should it just be a feel thing.

get a stunt bike (honda f4i or kawasaki 636 are the better) or try learning on a 50
