Re: Fork Oil Wt.?

isn't the heavier the oil more likely to push on the seals and ruin them from hard hits?

I have the Level X video How to stoppie by Kyle Woods and Bill D and Bill D says he changes it out to a 5wt. to help not blow seals as fast.

Just curious if others have tried different variables and what works best

I've never blown one. Quite a few people here will tell you how **** i am about forks. If you're serious about stoppies, you'll rebuild them a few times a year and they wont have a chance. I dont think heavier oil will push by the seals any easier than thin. Too much may. They usually leak because of debris getting under them. Then the longer you ride on leaking seals, the more your forks will leak and be more likely to leak even after they are repaired. They will develop vertical scratches on the extension tubes and always leak. Keep up with them and you wont have problems.

Re: Fork Oil Wt.?

I rebuild them with a blend we come up with. Its called 20W50 full synthetic (No wait, Sorry to take credit for the motor oil companys) Haven't had one come back yet. I don't care what you do you are not blowing that stuff through any thing but a crack
