i cant get it up...
i cant get it up...
so i just got a brand new 2007 zx6r about a month ago and feel pretty comfortable on it so for the last past couple days i have been trying to wheelie, nothing major (because i am new to wheeling) but just been trying to do roll ons in first. The bike just wont seem to come up no matter how many rpms i try to pop it up at nothing seems to get the front end up. I dont want to clutch it up because i would like to learn roll ons first and get use to that and work my way up. so i have been doing some research and found that it might be i need to change the gearing on my bike? is this true? bigger sprocket in the back or what? any help will be apprcieated.

power wheelies are dangerous and really bad for your bike learn how to clutch it up

Re: i cant get it up...
ok...... well thanks but.. every where i go on how to learn wheelies says learn power wheelies 1st so thats what i am trying to do so does anyone have advice for me? why are they dangerous seems like they would be safer...thats what i hear too..
Re: i cant get it up...
they don't come up at a steady rate , meaning that when you first hit the gas they start to come up slow then they shoot up fast and if your not good with throttle control or rear brake then you flip ,that and you will be doing 80 in a matter of seconds ..
if you clutch it up you controll the rate the tire comes up and if you practice you can get to balance point quicker wich means you will be going slower when you get there

Re: i cant get it up...
ahh, i see what you are saying, but its kind of the point to me i have a 07 zx6r and all my friends are like that thing will come up in 1st and i thought it would have enough power to just roll on? but i cannot get it to.. so if i did wanna roll on wheelie i would need to adjust the gearing or what would i have to do??

roll in first gear and get the bike up to about 6000 rpm and then very fast jump out of the gas and then punch it , it will come up...
good luck and let me know when you get out of the hospital and i will tell you where to go to get your tranny fixed because enough power wheelies and slamming the bike back down at high rpms will ruin it
Re: i cant get it up...
ok thanks. but dont need the sarcasm i was just wondering why my bike wont roll on and everyone tells me it should and i have tried doing that and still wont come up.
Re: i cant get it up...
you asked for advise , i gave you my best advise if you choose to ignore it thats your choice ,sorry i offended you have a nice day
Re: i cant get it up...
so what you are saying is that no one should do roll on wheelies beacuse they are unsafe and bad for your bike

I'd also suggest clutching...before I used to only power up my wheelies and always said clutching is crazy I can't do it and what not. Then I tried clutching and once I got the hang of it wondered why I ever powered haha.
If your dead locked on powering it up then follow OMRs advice of going around 6k or so letting off the gas and punching it again. If your doing sitdowns big thing to remember is to not lean forward when the bike comes up. Have your arms extended (not locked) and keep them like that even as the bike comes up. I noticed it with myself when I started and also now when I watch new guys that they always lean forward. A lot of guys say "no I'm not" "I don't think I'm leaning forward" so I record then with my phone or camera and then they go "oh..."

you are exactly the reason alot of people on this site don't like to answer newbee's questions cause even when you get the right answer you argue with the person who is just trying to help you ..
Re: i cant get it up...
learn wheelies on a **** bike or ure gunna end up like most oth4rs fked up in in hospital. any new model 600 will power wheelie. **** even some 250 will come up under power. im being honest.
learn it on a **** bike before u move onto a minter.

Re: i cant get it up...
yea apparently the bike has a sensor that measures acceleration g forces and when it thinks you are about to wheelie it cuts back on the ignition timing preventing the wheelie from occuring...im pretty sure if you unplug the #3 coil it will fix that
Re: i cant get it up...
clutch it up everytime, no question, when you use the clutch you have much more control and consistency, it will take a lil gettin use to but practice, clutch in small roll on then let the clutch out, go bac and forth using small revs each time building the revs up slowly each time, then you'll learn how much you need to give it to get it up the same height everytime, its all about consistency... baby steps...
Re: i cant get it up...
Most will tell ya to learn in first using the clutch, but I did not do it that way. Make sure you have a cage or at least good frame sliders. I went to back roads and learned staggered in 2nd gear cus 1st is pretty twitchy. Just get somewhere with no traffic, put your bike in 2nd gear, put ur left foot on the rear peg anf ur right foot on front peg. Get up to about 30 mph, pull in the clutch part of the way (just enough to disengage) and give it some gas and release the clutch. The front will most likely not come up much ur first few times, so gradually give it more and more throttle. Also, u will need to learn to stay on the throttle as it comes up and not just chop it when u get scared. And try to cover the rear brake as it comes up. Good luck.

this thread is ******* stupid.... period...
if he doesnt take the advice OMR is giving him then let him learn it on his own, i hate it when stupid ******* newbs come on here, ask for advice, then say "no that not how i wanna do it" heres what you need to do
1. grow some ******* ***** and be a man.
2.take omr's advice, he knows what he's talking about
3. go clutch it
4. realize that once you get used to clutching it (which doesnt take long) it is a helluva lot easier and more predictable than powering it.
5.punch yourself in the face for being an idiot in the 1st place
GOT IT????

no im saying unexperienced riders shouldn't do power wheelies and since your here asking how i just assumed that you were an unexperienced rider
