Carbon Fiber Muffler Chop
Re: Carbon Fiber Muffler Chop
something i put together for a local bike forum when i shortie'd mine..
First things first, the ugly pipe. looks like it's been attached to two different bikes already ugh!!

Drilled out the rivets on the header side, and took the strapping off, pulled the end cap out.

Using the strapping as a guide, I scored the carbon at the point i wanted to cut it. this pipe will be a shortass! woo

Hacksaw time!! the biggest bastard is pulling out the internal baffle tube and cutting it shorter than the carbon so that the end cap can go back in ok..

ZING!! (taken before shortenning the baffle pipe (had to cut through that ****** twice and its HARD with a hacksaw let me tell ya)

I wanted to freshen up the carbon so I gave it a coat of fiberglass resin. It looks shiny as here, but it ended up kinda dull even after a cut n polish with the power polisher. Oh well the surface is now nicely coated and uniform, and theres no marks and whatnot.

Holes drilled for rivets in the carbon at the new end - was a ****** cos nothing lined up like it should have but oh well. Here's the finished product.. nice and short.

also I gave it another cut/polish with a drill and polishing pad - came up glassy.

Re: Carbon Fiber Muffler Chop
Ouch a hacksaw? That hurts my arm just thinking about it!
I went and picked up a metal blade for my chop saw, and chopped through my D&D pipe in about 5 seconds lol
Not carbon fiber, but heres my pipe
