finding balance point
finding balance point
anyone can give a description as to when you hit your bp? At times when I bring it up slippin the clutch it shoots up higher than normal, When it does i back off the throttle and it comes down. When this occurs, I don't know if I"m going to far back or not.
On the other hand when it comes up smooth to where I'm comfortable, I just give it more gas to keep it up a lil longer. (the pic of me is where it's comfortable and it rides a lil ways)
Over all I'm asking what would be the next step as to getting the wheelie to stay up?

Re: finding balance point
umm go a little higher.........
i know that sounds like a smart *** reply but it's the truth ,you just keep going a little higher untill the bike will stay up with out accelerating if you can maintain a speed in a wheelie then you have found the balance point for that speed......

i would strip your fairings and get a cage & 12 bar if your trying to learn.. when you hit bp the bike feels like its floating and your natural reaction is to bail.. it took me a couple times dropping my bike to learn.. dont think you will be that special person that can to it without crashing.. you will end up messing up a minty bike

good luck

as far as bailing? i don't care how far back that bike goes i'm not letting go, i rather try hitting the rear brake and letting off the throttle, but that bike is my wife! if she go down i'm going down lol....well...only if it's not going fast or i'll divorce it.
Re: finding balance point
nah, i don't get affended, i'm hear to learn lol. i'll try tonight when we go out and work my way up. now i understand what the balance point is about. matching the wheelie to the speed. the reason why i ask about the bp is cause some riders i hear they bike giving it throttle every other sec keeping it up. others it's just a straight stream like they throttle hand is not moving. to give more gas.
if you are standing back and watching some one with good throttle control it will look like they are not using the throttle but in fact they are just making the corrections so soon that it doesn't take alot of throttle movement ,the sooner you make the correction the less of a correction is needed and that makes it look smooth ..
if you wait to make a correction it will take more of a correction and that is what gives the choppy look
Re: finding balance point
thx man, this site is the best i sware. none of these guys in louisville,ky will care if you wreck or not just for the fact they can do it. i've asked when they are down there and they just look at you like your in the way for them to do a trick.

Re: finding balance point
Well Look who it is Anthony, man you never asked me how to wheelie and I reach BP on my bike just fine. Like everyone else said it's all about trial/error, let's hope you don't get to the error part, but when you hit BP, like the previous poster said it's all about corrections and throttle control. Hey Louisvillerider, you must be Paul, right?
Re: finding balance point
ofcourse
who r u?
not busting your *****, but hopefully your BP wheelies are higher than your avatar, cause thats not BP quite yet (best way to judge BP is the forks. straight, or damn near straight is BP. take pics, and see where your forks are @) i used to think i was going to loop when i 1st started, then id see a pic or video, and be like "damn i had a ways to go" lol

You have to understand that whoever was taking the picture took it just whenever I passed them, other than that still a good wheelie pic. But I know what BP feels like due to riding staggered 2nd Gear Stand-ups. Does your boy with the stunted-out red 636 still stunt?
