Legal advice

Was wondering if anyone could help. I have had my License revoked and I cant get a hearing for a year. My buddy's got a trailer that can bring our bikes over to our spot for us. So what I was wondering can I get in trouble for driving on revoked in a private parking lot? I remember when I was young my old man used to take me to the high school and let me ride his bike, but when I asked him if that was legit he was like "*** if I know". So if anyone has been visited by the cops and got tickets or have any idea I would like to know. Thanks.

Re: Legal advice

i think my state requires that you be licensed to operate a vehicle, regardless of where it is... private property doesnt always mean clean and clear. its like drunk driving in your yard, they can get ya....

Re: Legal advice

From what I understand if the road connects to the parking lot even if your in the back all road rules apply so I would just get a 50 and practice with that for the time being be smart your in trouble all ready do not make the matter worse for yourself.

Re: Legal advice

Hire a traffic attorney to get you your hearing and fix your driving record.

Riding/driving on private property is actually OK, but there are some cops that think otherwise, so you could get hassled. If it's a completely closed lot that the general public couldn't drive into, you're good to go. But a shopping center parking lot could be trouble.

Ummm I was told you can get a ticket on private property..Our spot we had for like 6+months cops showed up and said he could give us wreckless there if he wanted...

cops showed up to our other spot and just checked out our licenses. So i'm sure you can get in trouble at a spot..

Re: Legal advice

The only time i guess they can't say anything is if you have permission from the PROPERTY OWNER and have that in writing with you

Cops can always do whatever they want, but it doesn't mean you did anything wrong. "Reckless" by definition means you put people in imminent danger. If you're stunting safely in a private lot, that is hardly reckless.

Depends on your state. Most states have some sort of a "Recreational Use" law that prevents property owners from being liable if people use their property for recreational purposes. The idea is to encourage property owners to let people have fun and enjoy themselves.

You generally do not need permission to recreate on private property unless:
A) it is fenced/barracaded
B) it is posted with signs not to trespass
C) you have been told by the property owner (or someone legally responsible for the property) not to trespass.

A police officer is not a private security guard. He can not come onto private property and tell you to leave unless the property owner has requested he do that.

Re: Legal advice

Alot of what was said here is true to some degree. I wish I could quote some people, but I am to dumb to learn how to use this feature(e.g. on being dumb: rovoked and suspended 8 times in 5 years and 20+movers). But a good customer of mine is the local Sergeant of a town of 22k ppl and he is a know it all. So what he says is....&"If you are approached by cops in a private lot and you are intoxicated they can and will arrest you(e.g guy who got a DUI on his riding lawnmower). If you are doing dounuts, wheelies, stoppies and/or anything else in a vehicle that they deem "reckless" you can and will get arrested. So if you get arrested for reckless your suspensions, revoked or lack there of a license period will come into play in court. Odds are the **** will get thrown out in court, but the waste of an afternoon, bond money and your P.O.S stunter getting impounded is all quite a reality. I may be a stupid stunter and reckless at time but I'm sure I am not the only one. Hope this helps anyone you know now or in the future when that ******* statie comes rolling up on you w/ his crew cut and pistol drawn and takes your pimp *** to jail and your bike to the impound lot. Peace JB
