sprocket

the stock sprockets on the f4i is a 46/16...right?
and 525 chain?

i was lookin at my chain and sprocket today and both are pretty fucked, found a guy whos sellin a 47/16 + chain for $75...(used for ruffly 200 miles)

is +1 in the back gonna make a BIG difference? also, does that sound like a good deal for $75?

p.s. he said the sprockets are from "sprocket specialists"

Re: sprocket

Not a very big jump at all, probably won't notice it much. If you want to stay around the same gearing you are at now that wouldn't be too bad othewise you might want to buy something bigger in the back. Based on your avatar you could probably go +10 or more and be loving life.

Yeah, you can definitely go either way. I waited until I could slow wheelies down before I got mine. I still am learning brake control, catching idle etc. I think that the bigger sprocket has helped a bit and made it easier although I certainly could learn without it.

Re: sprocket

if its ur stunter/commuter, you should be fine, if you get it up with stock gearing it will be a little tad bit easier with the +1, but it will be close enough to stock to where you shouldnt notice too much of a difference in gas mileage either, I went -1/+2 and I lost maybe 10-20 miles out of a tank depending how I ride... I think -1/+2 is equivelant to just +5 in the rear...

you should barely notice it...also going up 1-2 teeth won't make anything to top speed cuz you will just then be able to reach limitator in 6th which can't be reached with stock gearing...

I started off stock then when to -1 in the front and 2 up in the back and loved it for some reason I put on a +16 and i'm lucky to drive down my street before I have to fill up. Personally I loved the -1 +2 that's my .

Re: sprocket

I started off with +7 on an F3. Then -1+2 on the F4i and eventually only +5 in the rear also on the f4i. The only reason I changed from -1+2 was because I needed a new sprocket and chain. The bike pulls and feels the same with +5. I commute on the Freeway and streets all day. And this gearing combo is definately a good comprimise between the stunt spot and the street IMO.

Check out the gearing calculator on line and punch in your sprocket combos to see what you like man.

Enjoy :YEAH

thats a good website, now i just have to find the ratios for my transmission on a 600rr and figure out how it would affect my bike, but good to estimate for sure!!!
