Which is a better bike to learn on?
Which is a better bike to learn on?
Which bike would be better to learn wheelies on: 06 gsxr 600 w/ -1/+2 or an 04 gsxr 750?
I own the 600 but have gotten a little scared from all the frame snapping talk and have an oppurtunity to buy a friends 750.
I can clutch 1rst gear sitdowns but can't sustain it very long. Working on 2nd gear clutchups but I can't seem to get them up. Also, after reading all the stickies, I will try to learn standups first.
Does anyone ride an 06/07 600? I find it very hard to wheelie, every other bike I ride the front end comes up so much easier. I think it's because they moved the engine forward some. Any advice for the 06?

my bro has a 07 gsxr 600 and it doesnt even compair to my 05 636 the gsxr was man i dont even know how to put it.... i say get a whole different bike period........ kawi or honda all the way...... if you want a easy GOOD bike to learn on get a F4I........ imo but if you must stay wit the gsxr might as well stay wit what you got... just go -1 +10 and get a cage... and a subcage....... the 750 would be a lil heavier imo.... the 600 is plenty. wit the right sprocket set up and A WHOLE LOTTA SEAT TIME!!!!!!!! its summer have fun learn tricks and show off for the ladies!!!!!!!:YEAH

i have an 01 gixxer 600.. i uste to have a -1/+0 setup on my sprockets.. and i would have the same problem you were.. i couldnt get it up in 2nd gear.. i just did a full 520 conversion and went -2/+4 and it picks up in 2nd gear anywere between 3000 rpms up to 8000 rpms.. just change your sprockets..
i wish i would have read a little more into the 520 vs. 530 conversions before i did the conversion.. from what i've read... its better to go 530 if you plan on stunting.. i think u can go down more teeth in the front and up more in the rear without worrying about snapping the chain... correct me if i am wrong... thats just what one of my buddies from a local stunt group told me after i bought the 520 conversion
*edit - changing my sprockets blew out my clutch too after about 20 wheelies.. my bike also has 17k miles on the stock clutch tho..

Re: Which is a better bike to learn on?
To be honest I have the 06 600 Gix and you sometimes have to clutch the **** out of it for me but I'm like 230 too.....my boy can clutch it and ride it on a lean back and all I had was a -1 in the front and +2 in the back so it can be done you just got to pull that B*t*h up and learn I'm no pro at all but when these guys on here tell you seat time they mean it....... you just have to play with it just like girls.....
Re: Which is a better bike to learn on?
doesn't make any sense...if you gear it shorter, you need less rpm to bring it up, therefore less stress on clutch...guess it was just coincidence that it blew few wheelies after changing it...
