R6 Setup (Help please)

I ride a 2004 Yamaha R6. Does anyone know what type of gearing I would need for slow speed parking lot wheelies?

Stock gearing is 16/48 and I'm currently running a 15/49 gearing setup with a 520 chain conversion.

Yes, I did a search but I couldn't find what I was looking for. Thanks!

I've got a -1, + 2, on a 900rr. the front comes up easy and I can still ride the street with no problem, dropped top speed from about 180 to 160.(give or take some). Think you need 60 or 70 to go slow.

Re: R6 Setup (Help please)

i have an 05 r6 and i run mine stock in front and 54 in rear, i was -1 +6 but went back to stock in the front cuz it was a little too far for ridin the streets which i do a lot of, for lot stuff -1 +6 is probly perfect but if you ride highways your bike will be screaming an aweful lot, i'm thinkin about going back to the -1 in front and keepin the rear the same as i'm getting into slow stuff more now but i still kill the streets so i'm not sure if i want to or not, for lots only deffinately -1 +6 for streets might wanna stay stock in front, just my

A shamless plug for OLD MAN ROGERs sub-frame cages
(Thats my R6 in the pic)

His sub cage helps a lot. You can jump around on the rear pegs and they dont move a bit.

see his thread in the echo if you want to ask him any ??'s
Yamaha
Tech
  • The 03-05 Yamaha R6 pegs are lowered and moved and out for better peg position!
  • Other models are in the stock location except they are rotated on there axis so they don't fold up unless you fold them up, this also puts your foot on the grippy part of the peg during a wheelie.

how easy is it to ride wheelies with the setup that you have? And what's the slowest speed you can ride them?

so -1 / +6 is perfect if i turned the bike into a strictly stunt for lot stuff?

Thank you all for the replies.
