squid gearing question
squid gearing question
I've got a line on a 520 conversion w/ any size sprockets for my f4i for about $150. I'm currently having trouble getting it to come up in second and still chasing bp. the vendor recommended -1/+4 since its the same price as -1/+2. what do you guys recommend for a starting stunter for this conversion.
Re: squid gearing question
stop chasing BP and slowly learn to get it higher. If your stock Id say go -1Front and thats it, especially if you ride the streets. You could go more but it wont really matter. Just practice more, use the brake and go higher in small increments till you hit BP.
Re: squid gearing question
im still practicing but i was wondering more what would be a good combo for a starter that wouldnt kill me on the streets....so the -1/+4 would be ok that way I dont have to change later?
Re: squid gearing question
if you just go one down in the front you won't have to buy a longer chain than stock... and i really wouldn't worry about later because if your still riding the streets chances are by the time you get good enough to take advantage of that gearing you will most likely be ready to replace your chain and sprockets again... imo
Re: squid gearing question
Seriously if your just learning BP then leave it. The brake is more important. Once you can tap tap tap the brake your on your way. If you gear it more, then once you do get BP, you'll be alot more choppier (throttle) compared to leaving it where you have it now. Plus you can ride around town at lower rpms.
Re: squid gearing question
-1+2 speedo will stay ok any more than that it will be reading over (+mph)
people could hit the bp long before big sprockets were ever made
Re: squid gearing question
i understand the gearing isnt going to help me find balance point. I think ive hit it a couple times but i just gotta learn to keep it up there, the main reason for the gearing is so I can get it up in second
