Re: Running a 2-stroke in reverse

I know how to work on engines and stuff. But my experience with 2-strokes specifically is lacking. I know what a flywheel and points are and all that stuff.

This engine does have points, it came off a fairly old push-blower. Nothing advanced. Just the engine, carb, and gas tank.

Re: Running a 2-stroke in reverse

I had originally figured that I could just flip the pull rope, and yank it, but got to lazy to go pop the rivets holding the cover over the pullstarter.

So I'm just asking here first so I can know what needs to be done to make it run backwards well.
_____

EDIT: Alright I'll go down and flip the rope and yank it. I'll keep this posted.

Re: Running a 2-stroke in reverse

on skidoo snowmobiles that is how reverse works you push the button and it shuts it off and it restarts backwords

There's no clutch.

I'm telling you guys, this is literally just THE engine I bolted to a bench. It's got a carb sticking out of it with a tank I hung above it. I cut the exhaust so it's basically straight out the block. (Yes I know 2-strokes don't run as good this way) It runs perfect in its normal direction.
