Re: slow wheelies

The first time I slowed it down was by learning throttle control so you can bring it at balance point, if your still accelerating your not high enough. Get a feel of balance point by going higher and at the same time being smooth on the throttle. Dont try to chop until it's higher, just bring it up higher and higher until you feel the bike is not accelerating anymore, don't worry at this point you still don't need the brake. Once I was comfortable at that spot I then learned to slow it down by going a bit higher without the brake then I just learned to keep my foot on the brake and throttle as smooth as I could and the bike would slow down a lot.

It's a whole different game now but that was my feeling of going slower was to ride the brake all time. Now don't do it for too long you will cook your brakes but even if you do at least it was worth something. Once you get that fear away then you can just clutch it up at lower speed and just try to be high enough before you gently apply the brake.

Hope this helps.

Re: slow wheelies

very easy thing to do once you stop thinking about it. when i was trying hard to slow down, i was chopping, and i wassnt consistant. once i just started enjoying being on 1 wheel, and just did a wheelie to wheelie.. ****, i can't buy a fast wheelie to save my life. it's all about the feel, and what you are physically, and mentally in tune with.

what i learned to do on the R6 was, bring it right up to where i thought i wanted it to be... then i let the breake off slowly, but i held the throttle at the same point, never corrected it, and just played with body position, and brake.

i could try to talk you through it, but i will just try to put up a video of what i and roger are talking about.

like he said, it is way easier to go at a constant speed, then slow it down... that was the first way i learned it. after you learn it like that, then bringing it up at a slow pace, and rocking it to a stop should be nothing after that.

keep out there practicing, and less typeing... only when you really get stuck, also that video idea is such a aly.

Re: slow wheelies

What pressures do you guys run on the rear tire?

I am running 25psi cause I also use my bike for riding on the road. It's a race slick 180/55/17 rear BTW.

I get a lot of wobbles from side to side.

TWO WORDS:

VIDEO CAMERA.

Watch your progress. Have a friend ride next to you and video tape you so you can see where the bike is when you actually freak out and hit the back brake. Also, 10PSI?? You should be around 18-22PSI

I Run 22psi.. still okay for teh streets, most of the times its fine when I get slow, few times it wobbled..but mainly its your body position that influeneces it.. just gotta get used to it.
