Re: F4i Idle Screw Mod (pics)

ok ive had this mod for a few months now and its great but i got a question, my friend went to ride it and screwed it completly out (***) and well i dont have the washer or spring, i know i could use possibly any washer but the spring i can probably match but i didnt know if it has to keep certian amount of tension on it or waht, i think its only there to keep the screw from vibrating itself out but idk the rik of running it with out the washer or spring,.. any ideas??

Prop the front of the tank up, take the air filter off and its right there.

The little stopper screw that I'm holding gets taken out and replaced by any Honda idle screw. I used one off of a 92 F2- its plenty long. I put a little lube on the threads. The factory adjuster does it internally somehow and it makes the idle irregular and make the thing run real rich and bizzare. The new idle screw just cracks the throttle plates open just like if your opening it with the throttle.

they do the same thing........only one is remote

Re: F4i Idle Screw Mod (pics)

love this mode mabee i will even get good some time. did the air box mod as well so much smoother and no ******* with the stock idle thing all the time any more. for the 600 rr cable i had to cut the end off of it. just cut it to the treads and its good.

Re: F4i Idle Screw Mod (pics)

does it matter what year 900rr idle screw for the f4i cause those are half the price on ronayers.com and do you have to mod it at all?

Go to Autozone and buy a universal speedometer cable and some rubber hose that fits pretty tight around the cable, make your own **** and screw assembly. It's pretty easy and it saves some money, the time it takes to order one, finding the right application/ length, plus you get 7 feet of cable for $7. You can make your own cable at any length you want and you'll never have to steal one off your buddies bike again.

I make the screw assembly out of some steel tube that fit the screw after cutting the head off and fit the cable diameter itself and just pinched them together. Works like a champ!!! Put that damn cable anywhere.

By the way, the cable on the idle screw and the speedometer cable is the exact same cable.... Your welcome!!!
