SS O's
Re: SS O's
i finally started tryin these one day of practice.. a few crashes and i got 3/4 of the way around on lock everytime...lol i just always highside after that..only thing to do is keep practicing...ill have em down soon enough
Re: SS O's
actually i lyed second day first day my tire pressure was way to low and couldnt even get it to turn in...
anyways i noticed you guys said to keep your idle down around 2500.. i got stock gearing should i raise it up a lil..

Re: SS O's
Make sure your pressure is atleast 22 - 30 or so, helps soo much having more pressure. Takes a while to get used to but circs will dip in and stay in much easier with more room for error before high siding.

Re: SS O's
Whether you have gearing or not, run your idle wherever you like it, and what feels comfortable to you. When running a lower idle reguardless of what kind of gearing your running your going to have to use the gas or throttle to keep it up and going and with stock gearing you will be using a lot of it and when applying the hb it will be easy to stahl. The idle is more forgiving to where you don't have to use the gas as much and won't send you into a nasty high side.
Turn your idle up get comfortable with it, then start turning it dn little by little and applying the throttle where needed to keep the front wheel up and circleing, which is most important. That's why I couldn't do **** for circles at XDL. It was soo boggy below or at idle when I went to hit the gas there was nothing there to keep the front wheel up.

Re: SS O's
Less gearing means more idle, not just for circles but for anything slow. More gearing the bike has more torque and pull at low idle to keep it going without stahl.
Learning circles with the stock gearing is going to be tough.
Re: SS O's
i find that with stock gear the bike rolls faster at 2500 then the big sprocket at 2500 so less gear les idle for me because with a bigger sprocket the bike goes too slow when on idle if your idle is too low and the bike wobbles too much going to slow...
Re: SS O's
Either way it's the same, stock or small gearing means more throttle, bigger gearing means less throttle. It's all personal preference, either way it can be done. Just do what works for you, it's all trial and error and seat time which is more important than how your bike is set up.
For anyone who is learning. just go practice.. If you're a small gearing or big gearing stunter you should know what you need to adjust to make different tricks work, if not, just go try different ways and you'll figure it out.
Re: SS O's
Low idle and big gearing sux for o's too because of the engine brake.
I run a 60 tooth and i like to run about 2000 and use the least brake possible and try to keep it in the BP with body position and small blips on the throttle kinda like a blip - coast -blip- coast - blip.
Sometimes this way I can get about 1 1/2 rotations without gas or brake just cruising the BP.
When I try to go wide its more of a steady gas and slight brake when I have to.
Idle O's using the brake bore me quickly but I guess they are smoother.
I have more trouble with them wanting to stand up (high side) on idle but my handbrake hasn't been that great till recently. Just took a 636 master off & put an R1 master on till I save up for the brembo.

Oh nvm this ish is old hehe but good info so far.. I'm started these the other day.. I've been working on staggared ones and I've got 2 so far occasionaly and I have the concept of blipping the gas but it's just weird being in SS feels like I have no way to bail and save the bike.. Im' getting used to it now

If your staggard you have to lift your left foot over the bike in a highside, SS you just hop off, doesn't get any easier than that. Are you on heavy narcotics?
