oh yeah one more thing for the newb on the 2006.... dont stunt it.. its going to be worth a couple thousand dollars in a month... it would make more sense trading it in for 2 decent stunt bikes.

Re: 2006 CBR600RR wheelies

ok idles going back down tommorrow and i bumped up the psi to 15 (from 10)..thanks for all the advice and hopefully tommorrow goes better .. i feel myself getting closer and closer everyday ....quick question .. compared to sitting on the bike would you need LESS rpm when clutching it if you were using the staggered stance and/or getting ur *** off the seat... would you recommend learning that way first?

why would 2nd gear be better to learn clutching it up in compared to 1st? .. just curious

because you don't have any throttle control....2nd gear will smooth out the jerkyness (sp)...

i noticed your in ny....after you destroy the rr....i'll buy it from you.

yeah... but he'll also have 0 engine brake... combined w/ no brake control... you do the math.

learning in 2nd is bullsh*t... once you learn 1st all the other gears are tit.

do whats comfortable.. just make sure your body is always squared up on the bike... at first the staggered stance felt better for me, but since i wasnt squared up on the bike it was hard to save my bike from crashing left/right..

on the other hand, another way (the safest way for you) is to sit down and put one foot on the ground....

I'm tired of hearing this. other than the speed 2nd is fine. IF SOMEONE IS CAREFUL, 2nd can be better to learn. newbs loop in first a lot it's more predictable in 2nd, but that's just my opinion.

Re: 2006 CBR600RR wheelies

ok......here is what you need to do with that 06!

Gear it -2 +13, get a new cage, and put the 2nd idle screw on..........crank your idle to 9,000 and dump the clutch....................

...........after you wad the subframe up, I'll give you $200 for the rest of the bike! hahahahaha

seriously though........take it slow, I learned to ride a wheelie on the highway in 2nd gear, learned throttle control and engine brake.........then geared and went to the lot to learn rear brake control

agreed...I learned 2nd first and I freaking ended up looping my bike. I think that it serves the sole purpose of learning to get the wheel up and feel what a wheelie is like (b/c you don't have to be so high up and the speed will keep side to side balance to a no brainer) which is good and fine, BUT I wouldn't recommed trying to learn a balance point wheelie in 2nd first.

when I first was learing 2nd gear your going so fast and I didn't have brake control on lock than (at least for me) it distracts me from using the brake b/c so many other things are running through my mind.

I wish I had just learned first gear first.....like my ATV.

Re: 2006 CBR600RR wheelies

just giving you guys an update.. i was doing ALOT better today .. i desided to practice 1st gear wheelies some more just because it feels safer slower .. i started to ride the wheelies for a second or two .. at first it seemed sorta like a power wheelie .. what i was doing was a more steady rev up to 12k instead of a faster one before i dumped it and gave the handlebars a tug towards me while i felt the bike come up and stayed on the throttle .. definately practice is the key ..

question: if you get the front wheel up to lets say 'power wheelie' height can you give it extra throttle to bring it to the bp? or you have to pop it up by the bp before anything?

PS i know it would be easier w/ a video and i'm charging up my camera tonight and should be able to post some tommorrow for better advice/tips

Re: 2006 CBR600RR wheelies

No you'll end up hauling ***. You can throttle up later on down the road when you got 12's on lock. For now, drop the clutch, get the bike nice and high really quick in a distance of 10 feet or less. You need to practice the "slingshot" clutch up really quick, catch the brake, and smooth throttle. And fuuk 2nd gear--loop in 2nd gear it will hurt you and your bike more than in first gear same with stalling out once you get brake control down. Once you got 1st gear on lock 2nd gear and 3rd gear are a joke for real.
