2006 CBR600RR wheelies

Ok i'm new to riding in general.. i've read all the posts.. basically i dropped my tire pressure down to 10psi and put my idle up to 2 grand (bout 15mph) .. for me to get it up i am having to drop the clutch (when going 15mph) at like 12k - 13k rpm .. my question is basically once its up do i have to go full throttle to keep it up? or is it closer to like half throttle .. any tips would be great ...

going back to practicing now!

Booo for ppppower wheelies.

Learn to cover your rear brake and bring it up gradually. It'll take you a while to learn it so just take it slow and lean back.

that sounds pretty high to me try using a lil more body weight

most of the time, even less. your gonna wanna hold your hand complelely steady and BARELY move it to make any changes to the wheelie.

Re: 2006 CBR600RR wheelies

once u hit balance point your going to plant that 600rr onto the exhaust because your turning up your idle and u have no rear brake control.

Edit: as i mean once u clutch it to BP arround 2k rpm's. there will be NO engine brake.

yeah, it's low pressure for a newb, I'd recommend learning in 2nd gear.

you know were talking about slow wheelies... 26-28 is bad advice for a newb.

you can't/don't slow wheelie.. i run 18psi and some days it feels like to much pressure.

Re: 2006 CBR600RR wheelies

dude....you are going to mess that brand new bike up.. put the idle back and put air in your tires and learn how to ride it first.. once you are comfortable try doing it in stock form. you need to crawl before you walk young grasshoppa

Re: 2006 CBR600RR wheelies

get a cage before you wad that bike up! even just a track cage if you aren't gonna full-out stunt it.

After that, slowly learn to clutch your wheelies higher and higher and use the rear brake when you feel like you are gonna flip over backwards.....then practice getting back to that spot over and over.....

I would also recommend adding a 2nd idle screw to your throtel bodies before you break the OEM idle cable that came on there (like I did).......do a search on "idle screw mod" or somin like that........its the same for almost all hondas so don't worry about models

After that you can turn your idle up higher than 2K and give yourself some idle to carry you a lil better.

Ad take your time and go slow, if you try to learn too fast and without the proper protective equipment you'll be wadding up that pretty, new bike in no time.

Re: 2006 CBR600RR wheelies

i believe the idle cable breaking was fixed in 05/06 models.

its still a 2 cylinder fuel air mixture screw for idle, just a stronger cable........so the problem isn't really "fixed" just covered up, to keep Joe Squid from using his idle as a cruise control and breaking his cable so his bike runs at 3000 idle all the time...........<---happened to one of my buddies, was annoying as HELL at a stop light, especially since the only thing he could do was 1st gear, 2ft. tall and 5 ft. long power wheelies

Re: 2006 CBR600RR wheelies

currently im getting out of the stage of learning to ride slow wheelies, still need alot of practice but for me 20 PSI and stock idle was the easiest to learn with.

Re: 2006 CBR600RR wheelies

I believe i was the first to find out about the broken idle screw, check the date
https://www.stuntlife.com/forums/444-service-repair-maintenance/96291-12vd-my-600rr.html

Read The secound post from my friend ryan (R.I.P)

and yeah high idle sucked when it was 110 out, had to turn my bike off at every god damn stop light. i miss my old 600rr.
