i'd get the powers a ****ed up motor mount will cost more than $110 to fix

When you say street cage is that the same as stunt cage?...if its more like a race cage then its not what your lookin for at all, nothin but a diesal-*** slider.

That powers cage looks pimp...but me too poor...but it has given me a good idea on how to modify my FI tho.

Re: Make a 900rr to a stuntbike

I'm going to get an MXD cage for my 900rr. Just because FI sucks ***** for 900rr's. All I have seen them do is break motor mounts.

at least with the 905, mxd, and powers, they are spread out a lot more with the weight distribution when you hit the cage in a crash.

FI puts so much stress on the motot mounts I've broken 2. and My buddies 9's have all done the same with FI cages.

I'll let ya know how the 900r and 600rr compare with stunting. I love my 9 and can clown on it. And I am just picking up my 600rr next week. interesting.

Great feedback guys. I was gonna go with the MXD, but Jeff isn't answering any of my emails or PMs or messages on here the past few days and I've got the money burning a whole in my pocket - plus, his website is all screwing not displaying any pages.

Guess it's gonna be a Powers for me.

You can buy a powers cage on ebay for cheaper than the website shipped. Type in stunt cage under motor cycle parts. Its like 270 shipped...

Re: Make a 900rr to a stuntbike

Really? cause Jeff just answered my e-mail and said that they actually dont make the cage for a 900rr. and that it was a mistake having that section or something.

He actually told me there is going to be a 900rr at his shop, so he will try and make one. He told me the reason they don't make the 900rr cages is because they don't have a jig.. whatever that means.

See if you can get ahold of him, because he said he would make one for me. Not the street cage, but the stunt cage. Good luck.

It took a while, but I finally found the one on eBay that you're talking about. Where did you get the idea that they were $270 shipped? Was it a special or something? Anyone I have to talk to?

when I was looking for a cage MXD didn't make one for the 900. by jig he means he has to have a 900 to make a template of first, then he can make a jig, then he can make a lot of cages off that jig. his problem is he can't find anyone who'll let him borrowe a 900...he did have one but it had a broken motor mount that had been rewelded in place. he didn't want to make a jig off that cause it might not fit up to bikes with the factory motor mount

you may find a cheaper powers cage on ebay, but it might be the first generation powers 900rr cage. the pic I posted up is the second gen 900RR cage from powers and much beefier, as well as protect higher up on the bike. if it doesn't have that plate on the right that goes up from the motor mount to the cage, it's a first gen.

Re: Make a 900rr to a stuntbike

Ok, I´ve sold mine and bought a f4i. But here is some tips I can give you about the 900rr.

Put your bike on the kickstand and fill it up with oil untill the viewing glass or whatever it is called is filled up to the top with oil.

I had to run with alot of gas in my bike, or else it would start to bog out when you are over the BP.

Powers cage works good, but hit your legs alot.

I ran with 60t sprocket and I liked it.

Overall a good bike that takes a beating, but seriously, watch your leg. I broke my leg when I gave to much gas in a circle wheelie.

-used to own a 900rr 1996. w/ 98 motor. bought from chris in I.B.W.S. out of Illinoise. Learned how to wheelie on it. LOOPED the crap out of it. WOOOO. Thats why my name is jimmy loops high...that and my last name is high.
what da ya think?

For sure for 900's. Miltown wheelie boyz call em 900 double junks, cause you can treat em like it.
We stunt a Superhawk, but I don't know of anyone else that does and I'd love to hear from them if they're out there. It's a torque monster and a wheelie machine! But we can't really do bar tricks, circles, etc cuz it tends to stall on us. Actually if anyone knows some reasonable solutions I'd love to hear them. Otherwise we're just in talks with some sponsors on getting maybe a pair of different bikes. Not sure what.

I ride a f4i right now most of the time, and am not gonna be giving that up.
How do the two compare?

Apparently you only had your 900rr for a short period? Did you not really like it?

Re: Make a 900rr to a stuntbike

I had it between May this year to Septembre, but only rode till July cause I broke my leg during a circle wheelie. And then I found a f4i for almost the same price as I could get for my 900rr, and I wanted FI.

You have to be more carefull on the gas with the 900rr than with the f4i. Also it is heavier.
The 900rr where much more fun on the streets than the f4i is.
