I got a 98 Blade, stock gearing, only a Yoshi pipe, but I usually practice with the stock pipe on so I can prac all day without the cops coming to move me along.
I have an FI cage but agree it WILL break my engine mounts if I dont change it so I'm gonna get a plate welded between the current mount and the frame to put the new mount thru as seen in the pic, which was taken after I binned it and it bent the mount!
I just put a 12 bar on today but I dont think I will scrape for a while cos I dont get to practice too often. I'm in Aussieland so we are a fair way behind you guys
put some pics up when you get it so we can see.
This is my beast from Jan 29th and Neddy who wants to learn 2-up stunts with me!!
She loves Stuntin.
Note the cage.

Re: Make a 900rr to a stuntbike
i still ride a 1997 cbr900 mods are as follow:
*+10 rear -2 front sprockets
*non o-ring 525 chain less friction on sprockets for longer coasters
*streetfighter conversion
*second caliper handbrake system
*re-enforced frame on all breaking points including the motor mounts
as far as the cage i run a racing 905 and have never had a problem with the mounts.
also you can get the 900rr to run on the bar when you make your bar 1" longer than the stock tails section length. as well as make sure you have the gas topped off completly full when attempting bar tricks.
other than that have a great time with your new bike it's an oldie but gooddie :YEAH

i started with stock front sprocket and 7 up in the back, then i got a 2 down, so 2 down 7 up, then when i deystroyed my 7 up i went with a 10 up so my final gearing was 2 down 10 up, those things got mad snap!! way better in the streets then 600's in my opinion

Re: Make a 900rr to a stuntbike
What about a 996 superhawk? I can wheelie the **** out of it, and slow em down too. Are superhawks stuntable, or even stunt worthy? cause i just put in a cage, and soon a 12 bar. not sure whether to go with stealth or park type
-used to own a 900rr 1996. w/ 98 motor. bought from chris in I.B.W.S. out of Illinoise. Learned how to wheelie on it. LOOPED the crap out of it. WOOOO. Thats why my name is jimmy loops high...that and my last name is high.
what da ya think?
For sure for 900's. Miltown wheelie boyz call em 900 double junks, cause you can treat em like it.

Re: Make a 900rr to a stuntbike
I just picked up a 98' 900RR...gettin it prepped for practice and killin streets. I got an F4i but I think Im gonna work on makin it my "minty" stunt piece.
I got a FI cage but Im either going to modify the FI or buy a 905. Anyone got pics of the MXD cage on a 9hundo?
Can anyone post some pics where I should reinforce the frame besides the motor mounts?

Re: Make a 900rr to a stuntbike
Bump so we can get pics of either the MXD or 905 cages for the 900RR. MXD's website is buggy and I can't find any on 905's website either. I just got a 97 model for my crunchy piece.
I'm also curious about sprockets. Since I'm going to go ahead and replace the chain and sprockets, should I go with a 530 kit for a little more strength, or will the 525 be strong enough?

60 tooth rear sprocket, steering stabilizer, stainless lines and whamo. You have one of the best stunt bikes money can buy.
Re: Make a 900rr to a stuntbike
I've got a 905 on mine. great bike, still runs like the day I got her 15k+ miles later.
-1 +10 if your still gonna run street. its a perfect blend.

Re: Make a 900rr to a stuntbike
if you haven't bought a cage yet, look at the new powers 900 cage, look at the way it mounts up. on the right side, it has a plate that bolts to the motor mount, but where the cage is welded to the plate, it transfers the energy to the bike up on the frame, away from the motor mount. the right motor mount is the most common to break on 900's. I think the reason they designed the cage like this is to prevent breaking that right motor mount... but also, having the cage higher up makes it less likely to roll onto the tank. on the left side it bolts straight through like any other cage, but it uses the upper bolt instead of the lower one.
Re: Make a 900rr to a stuntbike
Thanks for the input and pic, Warrior. Now I just need to see the MXD cage before I pull the trigger. Their street cage is only $170, much less than the $280 that Powers is asking.
But then again...maybe the cage is not the best place to try and pinch pennies, eh?
