It is at least the safest way. Power wheelies are fun, but not always so controlable. Clutching just takes practice.

i used to clutch it up but i find it is more predictable to power wheelie it up and it is better for the bike. For standups i just gas it hard and it comes up. For sitdown i stand up bounce it gas and sitdown works good for me 400ex.

does your dirtbike have a rear brake? if so, use the rear brake almost like a clutch: push it in, rev your engine, and then let the rear brake out and pull back with your body. that is what i do, and it works pretty well. you could also just clutch it up like bigfugginred said. either way is good.

If it is in gear and your releasing the cluch with your foot still on the brake.
you got power to the axle and your stopping the wheels wit the brake.
Boom goes piston you will tear it up. Connecting rod

none of your poll answers apply to a person with a powerless automatic(aka polaris $hit) You should add a poll that says "I'm a afatt A$$ and use my weight and balance"

I once rode a wheelie 4 almost 2 miles I fell about 2/10ths of a mile short but was doing around 60mph most of the way(= to 5th gear 3/4 throttle). Heres some good advice flaten the back tires It gives you a larger balance point and helps to turn during the wheelstand
ps It wasn't on the Polaris if thats not obvious enough
