Dont those have accelerator pumps? I would think that makes a huge difference with the carb being at extreme angles. Does anyone know if there are any carbs made for small displacement bikes that have accelerator pumps? I would think that proper jetting for a low float height combined with a forward leaning angle on the carb could help, but it wont solve everything.

Am I on the right track here?

I'm gathering info to build a little stunt trainer out of a kx80 frame and prob an xr100 motor.
Your on the right track but your jetting/ float height still have to be on the money. The purpose of an accelerator pumps is to shoot a stream of gas to make up for the air entering the engine at low to mid RPM's when you wick down on the throttle. At low RPM's there is not much air being pulled through the carb, and when you quickly wick the throttle you have that whole throttle opening sucking in very slow moving air. This air is moving so slow that it wont pull any fuel through the jets (very lean mixture=bog)...the accelerator pump makes up for all this air by directly sparying fuel into the intake. Smaller and lower performance engines dont have them because the carbs tend to be smaller since the engine doesnt need as much air. So if your high performance 4 stroke has a bog then its most likey the accelerator pump not adjusted/working properly.
