carbs xr100

so i fixed my problem with my xr100 leaking when in a wheelie turn the gas 1/2 way off and i zip tied a little bottle for the little bit of gas left to go. but it trys to stall when i get past bp i got a 12 bar on it and the only thing i can use it for is putting my foot on theres no way i can hit it and the motors still running has anyone ever tryed putting there carb at an angle so that its not so tipped in a wheelie?

Re: carbs xr100

Doug Domokos the wheelie king would tilt the carbs forward.
on my XR80 I turn the gas OFF before riding a wheelie, then when your float bowl runs out of gas, turn the gas back on.
You get a few minutes of wheelie time with the gas off.
block your overflow tube if needed, my 400EX has a screw in the overflow tube. I am constantly turning the gas on and off on that thing

is the problem why it stops running from getting to much gas or not enough?

Re: carbs xr100

too much gas, its flooding, the float trips on when the bike wheelies, and causes the float bowl to overflow with gas.

Re: carbs xr100

yeah that would be a cool part for someone to make, on the old bikes doug would ride, he could take the rubber inlet from the carb to the engine, and turn it upsidedown., and it would give the carb a significant forward tilt, then his bikes ran fine vertical.
Now days you cant do that, even if you have a rubber boot that you can turn upsidedown, your carb wont mount back up to the airbox. you would need a custom boot on both sides

put a K&N filter right off the end of the carb like i did with my scooter and take the air box off

Re: carbs xr100

??? all you guys have to do is re-adjust your float height. Lower the fuel level in the bowl by slightly bending the float needle tab towards the needle. It should only take 15 minutes. To hell with turning the gas off and plugging the overflow tube.

Re: carbs xr100

Hey E-loc what up! which carbs have you done that on? dont your bikes have the Keihin FCR Carbs?
I've noticed the Keihin FCR Carbs are kick *** for vertical, I've never had one on a bike that ever flooded during vertical! It's every other carb that seems to suck! lol

Re: carbs xr100

Honestly all carbs are near the same but its the small bikes that seem to have the mis-adjustments...

Re: carbs xr100

Sorry, bear with me I'm new here,

I assume the Keihin FCR you guys are using is with a fullsize sumo right?

Dont those have accelerator pumps? I would think that makes a huge difference with the carb being at extreme angles. Does anyone know if there are any carbs made for small displacement bikes that have accelerator pumps? I would think that proper jetting for a low float height combined with a forward leaning angle on the carb could help, but it wont solve everything.

Am I on the right track here?

I'm gathering info to build a little stunt trainer out of a kx80 frame and prob an xr100 motor.
