Of all the many, many sites that are blocked at my work photobucket is not one of them. Surprises me all the time. I don't understand why you would be blocked though Mike. You are IT. You should be able to end around it. I use proxies here when I want to access a site bad enough. I have to try a handful of them until I get one that works but then I'm in.

 

I disagree. I'm a very good manager and very supportive of my employees and their growth. I get them into on site business and leadership classes to help with their development and I also purchase books for them that increase their knowledge and development.

 

I tried but it's not corporate approved. There are many litigious employees here so the company is always worried about keeping everything standard and documented.

 

Installing firefox completely gets around any sort of firewall here at work. Everything's blocked directly through the proxy server in IE. By simply removing that proxy server from your settings, you can get around it in IE too. It's not allowed, but we run this bitch so we got no rules mothafuckas.

 

How do I remove the proxy server from my settings? I think I would need admin access which I don't have. I'm going to try running firefox from the USB key. Gonna download it at home tonight and bring it in tomorrow. Thanks Toneth.

 

Firefox will 100% work on a USB drive. I did that before I had an additional local hard drive when I first started working here so it wasn't on the network. Would have raised some flags. Now I have admin rights though for everything. I just checked, and now you can't remove the proxy over here either without being an admin, it's grayed out. It'd be in tools -> internet options -> connections -> LAN settings. Give it a shot.

 

The proxy selection is already unchecked.

 

Yeah, the way they block **** over here is VERY simple. It's through a simple proxy. Yours is a bit more advanced. In most places it's way more advanced. There's probably nothing you can do, but hey at least you'll have FF.

 

Yeah, I was even able to get on Stuntride for a few days because I talked to Thomas about having websense re-class his site as sports, which is work safe for me. Just as that was done though, we went to our own program for classing websites so it's back to being blocked.

Thanks for the FF info though. I heard about that before but just never got around to trying it.

I can get around it by plugging my laptop into our backup network. Thats fine if i want to look at somethign real quick, but my boss walks by too often for me to be camped out on my laptop all afternoon.

Yeah I gotcha. We aren't allowed to plug in personal computers to our network because of the PHI on there and HIPPA regulations.
