For a long time, cars built before '77 didnt have to pass emissions. That ended in 04, now even a model T has to get it.

Pretty much any car older than '77 on the road today has either been nicely restored, or probably isnt safe to drive anyway. lol

 

So if you had a Model T, it would have to have a modern engine in it? There's no way the original engine could pass an emissions test.

Registration here is like $45 for the year but you have to pay excise tax to the town based on the msrp of your vehicle. The percentage of the msrp that you pay goes down every year for the first 6 years. My Chrysler with an msrp of about $28K was about $100 a year in excise at it's lowest point. My truck was $250 last year but it was only 4 years old. If you buy a brand new 1/2 ton with some options, it'll cost you about $800-$1000 to register it initially.

 

and since no one would ever do such a thing, its a safe assumption that every car that age is driving around without an inspection. My dad drove his camaro around uninspected from 04 to 07 when he moved to florida. He drove it a lot, and never got pulled over in it.

we have to pay a sales tax (8.75%) the first time we register a vehicle. every year after that its just teh little reg fee.

 

Yeah, 5% sales at the time of purchase and excise every year.

 

They used to do that here but now it's just the computer codes.....but the same with ME, no holes in the body panels or sharp edges from accidents and stuff.....

 

-1 we did it with my buddy's quad......it was sketchy but worked.....

 

ive done it a few times, and i wouldnt even say it was sketchy. if you know how to ride a bike thats being towed, theres no problem. And that only takes about 2 minutes to learn.

When i was younger I had a theory that any problem could be solved by 1 of 2 things:
1. duct tape
2. pulling it with a truck

That theory held true until I had kids.

 

Still holds true, you just have to go to jail afterward.
