Unique Question
Unique Question
Scooter Trash (and affiliates),
I'm "Newman" from Saline, Michigan, and have quite the question for you. I've been fixing up an junky old bike since October and have recently gotten it completely running, road-worthy, and looking good.
The great State of Michigan has been gracious enough to grant me a motorcycle temporary instruction permit (heh) and I've put around 300 miles on my bike just riding around my neighborhood all throughout winter. The neighbor's are getting antsy about me being stuck here (they're private roads) and I am itching to ride for real. The problem, as it might seem, is that I have nobody to babysit me while I ride as per required by the permit.
Basically, I hope you all understand this is my last resort and I wouldn't have asked a bunch of busy college students/stunt riders for help if I had a choice. However, my parents won't even let me insure the bike unless I can show them that somebody will even ride with me.
Would anybody like to ride with a 17 year old who was born a couple decades too late? Trust me, it's not like I'm going to stall the bike. I'm not going to be busting out wheelies, either, but I hope you get the idea that I'm fairly dedicated to this hobby.
If nobody wants to be seen near my old bike, that's fine. If anybody knows somebody who would ride with me, by all means, please mention them.
Thanks for your time.

OMG!
You're very welcome!
I think he's in love! Have you ever seen a Newman so excited after his first ride on an SV?!
Re: Unique Question
Scooter Trash,
Man, what a sweet day! Mogwai (Erin) took me out for a ride around the greater Ann Arbor area and we met several of the ST crew. STChick was working at the Alley (quite the swanky joint, I must say) and Schwartz was trying to keep busy at Nicholson's.
I gotta say, motorcycling has to be the most fun thing I've done in my life. It's simply, totally exciting the entire time. I'm still trying to get over the adrenaline rush.
I've put together a little ride report right here: http://mywebpages.comcast.net/newmanm4/Ride040304.htm
Thanks again to Scooter Trash and Mogwai, in particular.
