from what i saw of your knee yesterday it seems to be more of a stretching than a tear. you know i've seen lots of those from racing moto x for years and it seems that when someone tears the acl they can't even walk, let alone ride. there's hope borne. i think your gonna be alright. call me later.

dr. ford

I hope your right homie, ****'s swellin up like a *****. Making an appointment today to get it checked. I'll hit you up later on and we'll figure out whats up for tonight.

There are many different levels of tear, some require the knife, some dont. If it makes you feel any better, i tore mine racing motocross when i was 18. I didn't go to the docs for a few weeks trying to "walk it off" but my leg would give out on me sometimes so i went to the docs finally. They MRIed me and told me there was a tear but it MIGHT be fixable with no surgery. I spent 6 months in physical theropy for it and only was off the bike for 2 months (was riding while still in theropy). Took a little over a year but it was full strength after that. Just do what you have to do to get it fixed and it'll be 100% in not too long.

You might want to consider a knee brace from someone like 661 or EVS. I wore EVS's after my injury and raced for 3 more years with no inidents and they dont really bother your movment too bad once you get used to them

Good luck with it bro!!!
Thanks for the input. Twisted it a couple weeks ago out at wisconsin jumping over a bike. Took a week off from riding and thought all was good when I went to Lima the weekend after. No problems for another week then we were riding saturday afternoon and I started trying some random stuff. I went for a Strangler to merk and twisted it again. Hurt like a sonofabiatch parked the bike and hit the ground. Trying to walk it off now and take it easy but the swelling this time is being a pain in the ***. I'll get it checked in the next few days and hopefully I'll get good news from that.

How's **** going your way? Heard you're kicking through you upper now.....gumby flexible *****. Good **** homie!!

The ER is USELESS they will x-ray it and say it looks good.

One thing to note is when you tear your ACL most every time the person will hear or feel a pop. As was the case with my wife’s knee. She did it making a sharp cut in soccer more less your body keeps going as your lower half of your leg tries to cut.

Most Drs will give you the choice of therapy or surgery I suggest if it is not a full tear to try therapy first. My wife is going through therapy and thus far it has gone well. Therapy does not fix the tear it strengthens and trains you to use the muscle around the knee to support it. In most cases you will still need to use a brace. The only to fix the tear is to have it replace which has a long recovery time that the length depends on whether they need to fix other things while they are in there. I have a few friends that had the surgery and they said the ACL in their cases was tore worse then the Dr thought it was in the MRI results.

R1Dude also has had this type of injury so maybe talk to him.

Shity injury for your sake i hope everything is good and it is just hyper extension of the knee. get well Bro..

Jeff
Yea, got the pop sound when it happened in wisconsin and on saturday. The one thing that makes me feel a little confident is I havn't really gotten that "give way" feeling yet. Rode some wheelies on sunday (day after) didn't go all out, but it was still pretty mobile considering. I've been walking on it with a limp for a few days now and the only thing that bugs me is the swelling. Not sure if thats covering anything else up. Just have to get it checked and hope for the best.

How do you get the torn meniscus? Reading up found out most ACL ijuries come from twisting or hyper-extension and MCL/PCL injuries come from direct pressure hits on the outside/inside of the knee.

You can't diagnose yourself on the internet homie ... did you find a good orthopedic?

What are the symptoms of a meniscus tear?
Individuals who experience a meniscus tear usually experience pain and swelling as their primary symptoms. Another common complaint is joint locking, or the inability to completely straighten the joint. This is due to a piece of the torn cartilage physically impinging the joint mechanism of the knee.

The most common symptoms of a meniscus tear are:

Knee pain
Swelling of the knee
Tenderness when pressing on the meniscus
Popping or clicking within the knee
Limited motion of the knee joint

Not trying to completely diagnose whats up with my knee, just a little bored and trying to figure out what I can when I can. Yes, I found a pretty reputable ortho thats close in farminton. Performance Orthopedics, they work with MSU alot and only deal with athletic type injuries. Talked to one guy who completely tore his ACL, said they worked wonders for him. Figured I'd try them out. Hopefully I can get in today or tomorrow. Gotta call them during lunch.
