attn: PAINTERS
I'm Looking to paint the hooride solid black. Minimal repairwork needed. No cracks. just a 2 stage black job, no metallic, no pearl, just black and clearcoat. Need to paint all of the bodywork including undertail and tank. Also if a professional dent can be done in my tank that would also be cool (i saw one on stuntlife no sharp edges almost looked O.E.) Any painters let me know.
Re: attn: PAINTERS
i am a painter at a chevy dealer in warren and i am able to get work done out of there. i just got done doing a 929 in spies hecker deep black. if you wanna see some other stuff i have done i have a site you can go to that a friend set up for me. http://community.webshots.com/user/badassxtreme99. the black 929 is not on there yet. dents shouldnt be no problem as long as they arent that deep and then you might have to look into getting a tank but it would take a nice blow to f**k up a tank that bad. for me it will prolly take about t week to week and a half to get the bike shot. black is not a problem to paint the only problem is keeping it clean once its done but that is up to you. if you want to give me a call 586.722.3848 and my name is steve
Re: attn: PAINTERS
ok i talked to a few of the guys i know who are skilled enough to do what you want done to your tank and none of them want to do it cuz they said the same thing i said is that when you do that to the metal it stretches and weakens and will become very flimsy and in turn could also put a hole in the tank then you really are screwed. i dont think i want to get into doing something like that just for the fact of never doing it and not wanting to mess it up. i am not a metal worker and in turn of knowing this i dont ever try to be. i will continue to see if i cant find someone to do this for you. if you get it done and still need paint give me a call

Re: attn: PAINTERS
You could take some .250" round stock and bend it to match the design you want the tanks impression to be, then weld that to the tank and use it as a guide..hammer form it in...and you are set. I do not believe that the metal will become weak if you are just bending it inwards.....just don't pull the dent out later..
Re: attn: PAINTERS
well the thing of it is is that when you dent the metal it gets stretched and once it is like that it thus becomes weak but i also over looked the fact that the tank will possibly be sitting on itself. but it is very hard to work with metal and make it right with out using no filler. that is a skilled trade that i dont have. i dont want to just try it out on someones tank and have it all mess up and then have to buy a new tank or try to fix that one or n e thing of that sort. like i said i am no metal worker...
