question for corey...if he'd be so good as to answer it

sup. i got your "no mercy" dvd at a local benefit for a fallen friend of mine. in the vid you say that you modified your TL's engine so that it will pick up oil from the rear so you won't blow anymore engines. how's this working out for ya? and i've got a smaller version of that engine in my SV...would you be willing to devulge your info and let us v-twin guys in on how you are keeping from blowing your front cylinder or is this a closely gaurded secret.

kick *** vid by the way...that's some amazing stuff you guys are doing in there. can't wait to see the other vids!

I did figure out a way to easily change the oil pickup in the TLs. It does not work in a TLR so I don't know if it will work in an SV. If you want to e-mail me at cory@d-aces.com and give me your #, I will call you and we can get it figured out.

here is how i did mine

you see TLS has oil canal to the pump, it has that black metal wall, by shortening it you can make the engine to draw oil from further back. I only shortened if by 2cm, because I thought it makes it worst in stoppie situation if I shorten it too much..

I would be interested to know, how much Cory shortened his. And is it really then more durable, will it handle 12 O'clocks?

sounds good. i'll have to give ya a shout sometime here. i'm actually working on picking up an SV1000S here within the next couple weeks so the SV650 will be goin bye bye...unfortunately. in any event i will contact after that since i hear that some of the 1ks have main bearings where there is just a bit to much clearance.

TLR has some extras on the oiling system, not sure if SV shares those..

Well SV engine looks more like TLS engine.(oil cooler to air) R has oil/water cooler. R has deeper oilsump, windage tray, oilpump that feeds from both sides(doesn't cavitate? at high revs?). Pickup on the r is different also, it has not that metal plate, but that shape connects to similar shape on the left side block. On R that aluminium need to be grinded to move the pickup. It could be the SV is similar.?

now I have noticed that even if you keep the pressure ok, the TL breather system is blowing lot of oil to the airbox, expecially when the motoroil is at the top line or above.. I even made additional catch can/oil separator to the tailbox, but it doesn't work well. If the wheelie is long, it fills up and still sucks the oil to the airbox..(I have vacuum line from top of that can to the airbox.)

I would be really interested to know how d-aces TL can handle the breather prob.

You need a oil block off plate for your SV650. You can back order it from your local suzuki dealer. It prevents the front and rear cylinder from loosing oil pressure under extremely hard braking and riding long wheelies. The block off plate is like 20 bucks and the motor does not have to come out of the frame to perform this modification. Suzuki has a service bullentin up on it for all first generation SV650 motors.

I'm not sure if this is what Cory did or if there is a similar modification for a TL1000S but anyone who has done motor work on SV650s or road race or ride hard know about the "OIL BLOCK OFF PLATE" Get it!

all right. well i have heard nothing about an oil block off plate for the 650. i also now have the 1000 sitting in my carport that i have been riding constantly. if the internals of the 1000S are like the TLS then i should be in good shape and just have to follow the things that you guys have said.

although there has been issues and bad bearings in some of the SVS engines for the 2nd gen 1k bikes in the crankshaft. if i go ahead and modify my oil pickup system i will be putting in new bearings at the same time just for added protection.
