New at stunting
Hey all, I have been riding for only 1 year and I have decided I want to get into stunting. I live in connecticut and I am an 18 year old college student.
I currently own a 2004 GSXR600. I enjoy riding a lot but moreso stunting. I figure it's time to stop going down the highways doing wheelies and get to a parking lot before I get hurt or get into some other kind of trouble etc. etc.
Anyways, I am looking at picking up a salvaged bike or something older. I only want to spend $2000 max on the bike then maybe $500-$1000 on new chain/sprockets, bars, and a cage. I haven't found a lot so far as far as salvaged bikes but I am hoping that when we get closer to spring more come out.
I am looking for some recommendations on good stunt bikes for a beginner. I found a 96' katana and a 95 FZR600 but I don't know if those are a little too old or what. So if anyone can send me in the right direction of what I should look for that would be great.
Thanks,
Zac

Re: New at stunting
do a search for What is your Favorite StuntBike .... and that katana is way to heavy unless you got like a 800tooth sprocket....honestly if you wanna stunt i'd use your gsxr it will save you money cause instead of spending $2000 on a bike you can buy a cage, bar, and sprocket for your **** and if your worried about messing your bike up take all the plastics off and streetfight it. with all that saved money you can buy all those replacment parts you will need after you drop yo **** 200x besides once you get that itch for stuntin your gonna try it on your gsxr anyway!!!

buy a any honda F2, F3, F4, F4i, take the fairings off and buy a cage (thats all you need as a newb/squid), practice clutching it up and using the rear brake.

Re: New at stunting
I really don't wanna stunt my gixxer. It has low miles and I just put about $800 into it as far as performance parts. I would like to keep it as my riding bike. At the end of this season I am selling it and planning on getting a new one so maybe by then I will think about caging it if I can't find anything over this summer.
Thanks for the input guys.

Re: New at stunting
A 929 seems a little big but I found this deal while looking through my local classifieds. Any thoughts?
2001 HONDA CBR929RR,
stunt bike, ready to stunt w/crash cage, 12 o'clock bar, 13 up sprocket, dented tank, street fighter lights, plastics & tank are rhino lined, needs a little work, $2325 OBO. (203) 417-7543 (2x). New Milford, CT
I figure I should just say $2000 even and I'm ready to go. I will make sure it runs first.

Re: New at stunting
Hello. I'm about as newbie as you can get. I'm an old fart. Been riding a 95 Magna for a long time. I'm trying to learn as much about stunting as I can right now. Thinking about getting a old 600 and learning on that. Any info is appreciated. Are there any legal places to practice in CT? What is some of the gear I would need? Also, what is a cage for a bike? Thanks much.

It's hard to give advise to a 13 year old, but if you've got a dirtbike I think it would be good to stay on that until it's legal for you to drive a sportbike or find some private property that you would be able to use. But I say talk to your parents about your interests. They know what's best for you.
