what we have been seeing is the opposite, there tool work is perfect but the mystery steel they use is complete garbage seen cavities just explode and fall apart. i had one cavity i was checking the rockwell 3 different points all different, and it was like absurd from like 28-60.
we actually compete with ugoslavia more then china as far as mold making goes. are you familiar with DME?

Hell yeah they did.
All of our production tooling was purchased from Windsor tool shops. Most of them were less than 10 miles away from my old office in Dearborn. The prototype/rapid tooling was normally sourced to Detroit firms.
I visited a tool shop over there, we went to another shop who was making the tool and both places had 2 or 3 other tool shops in the same industrial parks. Lots of good riding spots. Actually I found out the other day that one of the spots I used to ride at all the time is in front of the test lab we use.

my work patterned a linkage setup that thats used all over the world dme sells it it makes it so the mold cant close with out the injector plate going to the back position. we also patterned the lift-tong that you see all over the place. id throw my works site up but its down for some reason

Injected moulded plastic parts are all made pretty much the same way. Our part needs a lot of part finish quality so you pick up a lot. A knit line in the wrong place on a part will **** up every part made.
