i remember if a recruit did something stupid (like that) in boot, the drill instructor would charge him and practically run him over, without actually "pushing" him. that's what i'd do. then "help him up" by grabbing him by the collar, and "patting him down and shaking him up" to make sure he wasn't hurt. basically, just a small test to show him that i can overpower him and crush him and send his soul back to God's heaven.

honestly, i'd tell him that if he thought he was such a man and smart enough to make it out in the cold world on his own, i'd literally rip my son's clothes off his body and send him out the door naked and tell him to make it on his own and that my job raising him and providing for him is done. but if he realizes that he still has some learning to do, i'm here for him as long as he abides by my rules, which are here because i love him and want him to learn how to function out in the world successfully. i'm sure he'd wise up. none of my kids are knuckleheads.

whenever is see my kids wasting i have a calm talk with them, actually. i tell them how i have to work to pay the bills, and my role in maintaining the house, etc and how they can help me by not wasting and how we're a team when it comes to running the house. we all have our roles in making it work. they actually listen to me.

 

i guess i was smart enough to know it was just easier to take the punishment and learn from it then fight it ... as i got older i got less stubborn
