accautly there is a perfectly good reason for that.

evolution happens slow.

giraff's didn't always have long necks, you trace thier roots back and you'll find they originally were almost idenitical to horses/zebras,etc.etc.etc.

however, some moved to an enviroment where the only food they could get was up high, thus, the taller ones out of the speices lived longer, and breed more.

it got to the point where their necks become so long that, as you stated, some began to faint/die from drinking, but a few of them came out slightly deformed, and guess what they had? not a sponge, but a membrane in thier necks. the ones with this membrain lived longer, and thus, mated more, and thier offspring did so aswell etc.etc.etc.etc.

 

You seriously would put your trust, your eternity, in science, and Darwin. Science can olny proove itself so far and stops. If fact many many scientist have become christians after they figured out that this planet life us didnt just evolve. Thats a fact. You responed intellingly, not agreeing with you, but you respectfully answered back, so i will throw some more creatures at you in a few days on evolution. The evidence is there just look up man. Its not random that humans became the dominating beeings of this planet as evolution would put it. God exsist wether we choose to believe or not, thats on everybody. Just a thought for now though. Say you die tomarow, you dont believe but just give it a small percentage that there is a hell. A burning lake of sulfer, knashing of teeth,ext. And your sent there for eternity, all because you simply just didnt want to except Christ. Is that something you would except. Eternal torture. Scary stuff man.

 

you seem to be ignoring the fact that science is responsible for the screen your looking into right now.

**** ain't a gift, it's the past 50 years of hundreds of thousands of years of science and human ingenuity.

i trust humanity, and i trust that god is not a kid with a magnifiying glass, but an intellegent being.

and religion has no solid proof to go on at all, the best it has is a book written a few thousand years ago, and a couple million poeple's word.

example: my two dogs. my big dog buddy is older, and strong, and MUCH bigger than my smaller dog bandit.

if we only left enough food for one dog, guess whose gonna eat and whose gonna die? the fittest.


your right, it's not random, it's human enguity, our ability to SPEAK to one another, figure out complex problems, and the fact that the luxuries we have now allow use to breed like jack rabbits and have our offspring live much longer than we would in the wild.

I'm curious as to what you believe are the words of god. Certain passages of the bible? None of them? Maybe your own dreams? I'm not bashing, I'm just curious as to what a logical, rational person believes is the word of god.

I don't even feel like responding to bigdogR1, he doesn't have a mind of his own. Just believes what he is told, no reasoning.

Hypothetically.... Lets say the Bible was originally the word of god (I don't believe it is), and put down on paper into a book. There is a problem though...

Scribes copied this book by hand for each copy for almost 1500 years till the printing press was invented in the mid 1400s. Stories get added. I could research this further and cite examples for you bigdogR1 if this will help enlighten you. For example the story of Jesus befriending the prostitute is not in early copies of the Bible, but appeared later on.

Also, meanings get blurred when sentences are not copied exactly. Meanings are also lost between languages. So you are basing your religion on something that is not what God said bigdogR1.

I have one more question unrelated to the previous stuff...

How did the evolution vs. christianity become such a polarizing issue? If God exists, Darwin was wrong. If Darwin is right, God does not exist. Couldn't whoever or whatever created this universe, created it in such a way that species and bacteria evolve?

 

Look at what has been accomplished by science in the past 100 years. How much further will science be in another 100 years, or 1000 years, it is mind boggeling when you consider where we have come from.

Science is self regulating. Proof and reasoning guide science. Why do you believe that if Darwin is proved wrong (which he hasn't been), that makes Christianity and the bible 100% right? Contemporary Christianity is flawed in many ways.

If the word of god is perfect never changes according to the bible, why is there a need for a new testament, why not keep the old one? I haven't heard an excuse for that one before, but I know there is one, lol.

anything uttered by a human being is an imitation, as it stands, IMHO, god has never spoken a word to me (and apparently, if he did, i would die)

the word of god is divine.

my beleif is that god's words have been distorted threw the passage of time, however the jist of it is still there, be a good person and be rewarded for it.

i'm pretty confident that a god whose has given me the ablility to do the things i can do, will have the knowledge and insight to see that all i'm trying to do is understand how and why, nothing more.
