Go take the MSF class and stick to lots or at least keep it at the speed limit for a while. ****, you just started driving, let alone riding a bike. You aren't used to the dumbass **** other drivers pull. Also, why are you riding by yourself on a permit? Re: I'm Down
A few questions for you kelm:
How many miles and on what is your riding experience?
how many times have you gone down and what was the fault?
do you have your endorsement?
I'm nto gonna jump on the bandwagon and defend you or flame you.
not a smart decision from the information I have gathered from reading this thread that you made in the first place(doing extremely excessive speeds on public roads putting yourself and other at exterme danger especially being a new rider) but im sure you are now aware it wasnt a wise decision but if this is a situation you have been in many times before(going down due to your negligance(sp?)) then I might advise you take some courses or spend some more time in a parking lot before advancing to a bigger bike.
by some posts i have read....if you have already gone down 5 times on your 250, what is the motive to get a 600?....arent you worried about your abilities....your pretty much setting yourself up for disaster dont you think?
and foremost if you are so interested in going fast then take it to the track.....buy yourself some full leathers and test your ability out there, i have seen people tear the **** out of 600's on GS500's fully prepped for track before because they are such good riders......arent you concerned with improving your ability(or lack there of) to be able to "ride"...and i dont mean operate a motorcycle...almost anyone can do that....but "ride".....
Everyone on here is flaming you but basically what your doing is setting yourself up....your defendign yourself in a situation that you could have prevented many times before......do yourself a favor and the rest of the people on the public streets and take some classes, read some books, go to the track and improve your riding skills before your go jumping on a bigger bike.
I went down a couple months ago on my 600, i was in a corner going about 40 mph or so leaned over like i was doing twice the speed.......too much lean and not enough speed, simple as that...and it was MY FAULT, and I am not buying another bike until I have improved my skill....we all do things, we all have accidents ...we all make mistakes but what your actions are afterwards is what counts.
buying a bigger bike doesnt seem like the right decision for you.
its your money and your life but its EVERYONES road your riding on so be careful....your not just putting your life at risk your putting EVERYONES lives at risk with this kind of a decision.
I truly hope you decide to think things through before you go jump on a bigger bike so quickly.

Got my 250
The full most truth.. I've dropped it on a gravel road, on oil, coming out of this huge steep driveway my hand got pinched becaue my sterring lock is broke it goes all the right and doing a wheelie i mashed the rear brakes and skidded into a curb in a closed lot.
I'm learning... I encountered oil a few days ago and slowed to dead stop with my feet out since oil was everywhere.+
Thank youi for your non biased reply and I appreciate and have taken in everything you said :Cheers
