Longest Coaster for comps!!!
Longest coaster should be a staple event for all comps just like longest stoppie is!!!
Instead of boring fans with the slow and drawn out slowest wheelie comp, we should be having exciting and fun to watch comps like coaster.
What do you all think, yes or no to the longest coaster comp???

You would just have to educate the fans ahead of time of how the trick works.

Actually I kind of think I know how this trick works, but not 100% definite. Anyone wanna clue me in?
I'm thinking it's when people bring it to 12 and just ride it out with the clutch in. Looks like a flyin' 12 0'clock wheelie. Right, wrong, close?

Here are the problems I see with a coaster comp. Feel free to offer solutions.
1. To hard to distinquish if the rider is off the gas when they cross the line.
2. Idle settings
3. Hard to tell if someone is slipping the clutch while they are in the middle of the coast.
It seems like it would be too easy to cheat and get away with it.

Good points B, but i think we can overcome those
Coaster comps are easy to judge, heres why:
RULE #1: Idle has to be ALL the way down, it think 1000 rpm is a good number we can all agree on, riders will be checked before there run
that makes your other points easy to distinguish B, if a rider slips the clutch at 1000rpm, he comes down, and you will definately know when the coast begins, cause the drop from 8-10K rpms to idle is VERY noticable!
Worst case scenerio, bike has to be turned off after the coast begins so that there is DEFINATELY no cheating at the end of the run.
We've had them before, they went smoothly with no cheating, and many people have told me that they would much rather see that then slowest wheelie
i want to hear from everyoneon this... what does everyone think???

OR
A bunch of high speed, out of control looking craziness???
Distance is always a crowd pleaser, look at longest stoppie, EVERY crowd errupts when a person goes BIG!

So turn the idle down and then shut the bike off once you cross the start line.....sounds better. I think that with the engine shut off, it would also help the crowd understand what is going on.
Next problem: how many riders can actually hang in a coaster comp?

it's like longest stoppie, two years ago, 300ft was SICK, now thatis average, it's the guys going 700ft in comps that are the show and that get the crowd going, there will always be standout riders in EVERY comp

consider nail hit on head....
i like the idea...adds some speed, adds some danger. crowds relate to that type of stuff. now shutting the motor down as a requirement is dope! and i bet it would really wow the crowd if it was explained to them....
increase the speed, why do you think nascrap is so popular? people love high speed anything!
i think it satisfies both the entertainment sector and the technical sector, although not nearly as dangerous as a stoppie.
excellent thread john,
