99 R1 2 Stunt Or Not 2 Stunt?
I have the chance at a 99 R1 for a very good price, it has been put down but no claim (clean title).
What are the pros and cons of this bike as a stunt bike?
I have been rockin and ol skool 88 gixxer this summer and i want to move up the game this comming spring/summer.

PRO's: you'll probably be the only person you know stunting this bike for a long while. when you finally learn a trick, not only can you say, "i'm doing ___ now" but you can say, "i'm doing ___ on an R1."
CON's: r1 has a super high balance point, difficult to endo for long distances, overall very twitchy bike, prone to headshake, and the pre-02 bikes were carb'd and won't run in 12. any of the bikes (even the 02+) will have oiling issues in 12 that will need to be addressed.
depending on how serious you want to be about stunting, i would pass. if you want to stunt and ride the same bike around, it's not a bad bike. but if this is a stunt only bike, make it easy on yourself and buy a honda/zuki

A very twitchy bike, i have hear that alot about the R1's.
I was hoping for something i could street ride and still rip **** up on. Plus i love the look of the R1, hella sexy.
However maybe i should hold off for a 900rr.

well, for what it's worth, you can tear **** up plenty on the R1.
checkout our video trailer.. www.apexfilms.com/reasonabledoubt.wmv
there's plenty of stuff in the video featuring R1's. as far as high speed stuff, you can wheelie the bike in any gear, and once you get used to the wobble, you can ride a freeway wheelie as far as you want. i can endo a bit over 200 feet on a good day. but if you wanna do 600 foot endoes, or you want to do slow stuff and bar tricks, it'd be a good idea to find a less twitchy bike with a sturdier bolt on subframe.
also, one last thing i forgot to mention.. the R1 has a lot of weak cast aluminum parts. the rearsets are prone to snapping while you stand on them in wheelies, my exhaust hanger snapped on the freeway one day, my fairing stay shattered one day while doing wheelies, etc. so, depending on how hard you want to stunt them, you may have to spend some money on replacing cast aluminum crap with aftermarket parts. i got some beefy rearsets, a new stock exhaust hanger, and welded a new fairing stay for myself, and i'm good to go.. for now.

however anything gots to beat my ol skool gixxer, however she has been very good to me.
but if the r1 isn't any good for slow speed wheels and **** its not for me........... this i know.

you /can/ do slow stuff, but the subframes are very weak (even the actual frame flexes a lot) and the pre-02's had welded subframes.. meaning if you bent them then it's a lot of work to fix.
i would say buy a 900RR
