Mile long wheelies...wtf?

So ive gotten the stand up wheelie down, but i can only ride it threw 1st gear. How can I ride em for a long time? Am i not geared right? (stock 05 r6) Am I not finding the right balance point? Is this not possible in 1st gear? What am I missing or doing wrong?

plus i usually pull it up in second or third depending on the speed for long wheelies. the thing is the faster you go the more things that can go wrong. if you find yourself running out the gear then you arent doing it right. keep at it a be safe.

Re: Mile long wheelies...wtf?

1st gear, redline it, dump clutch while you yank it up.... throttle into it til your taillight scrapes then bail off the bitch..haha

naww man 1st gear is a good gear, 2nd gear is BEST to learn long wheelies on .. if u can shift into 2nd or get it into 2nd gear you can usually just keep it at lower rpm's till u find your perfect bpoint.. cover your break and be smooth as butta!

Do you shift from first to second while you have it up?

Re: Mile long wheelies...wtf?

Re: Mile long wheelies...wtf?

Just put the bike in 2nd gear clutch up around 35-55 doesn't really matter.. The r6 stock has plenty to get it up easily in 1,2,3, or 4 th!

do any of you switch gears during wheelies? I'm too scared to try that.

Re: Mile long wheelies...wtf?

im sure a lot of guys do it on here, its all about what they already said, throttle/brake/balance control. i learned on a quad about 6 years ago and once you got it down its cake, i could bring it up in first and just put along then go through all the gears and move around the quad stand/sit/one side. itd be easy to do it on that no balance side to side, just practice practice practice

Re: Mile long wheelies...wtf?

can you clutch them up or are you just bouncing and throttling them up in first? if you can already clutch them up then try rollin in 2nd about 45-50 mph and yank that clutch.... it should pop right up to bp. but like everyone on here has already said... cover cover cover that rear brake. the higher up you can get the bike... the slower you'll be able to ride it..... the more control you'll have... and the longer you'll be able to ride it.

Re: Mile long wheelies...wtf?

In 1st, i can bounce it up and i can clutch it up. In 2nd, i have to bounce it and clutch it. But im trying to perfect myself in 1st before i try to many 2nd gear wheelies. (almost lost it one day) I can find the balance point on my mini bike, but it doesnt have a brake. So im good at throttle control, but the brake coverage is something im still practicing.

Re: Mile long wheelies...wtf?

When you're doing this in first... how fast are you going?? From a dead stop or are you already rolling when you pull in up...??? The only time I would ever suggest using 1st is from a dead stop or when barely moving if you're tryin to do the slow stuff. If you're just doing all this stuff down the road and your bike is still bone stock then I'd just suggest dropping one tooth in your front sprocket. It'll only cost you about $15, you can keep using your same chain, and it will significantly help you pull them up easier in 2nd.

that'd be the way to find balance point and too far past bp, maybe not redline but Yea +1 Highly recommend an oil pickup if yo wantin to do long wheelies or it's gonna cost you alot more than the pickup would.
