pizza sprocket question

i currently run a 54t sprocket and i like it but ive been thinking bout goin to a 64t sprocket. so the question is to those who have switched or run that size or bigger why do ya run that size of a sprocket?

and yes i know i could search for answers but i rather not spend hours going through crap just to get the answers

just get a 1 tooth smaller front and you won't even have to get a new chain. 1 tooth down in the front is equal to about 3 teeth up in the rear.

if you stall out a lot learning new circles, the big sprocket helps with that somewhat

Re: pizza sprocket question

unless your doing circles or at least in the process of leraning them, I wouldn't go up in size

I actually struggle to ride my friends bike that is -1 +20, I gotta do idles in 2nd gear, first is just too low unless I crank the idle way up

Re: pizza sprocket question

i have a -1 front and 56 rear. i got rid of the -1 and it helped me progress a lot faster because it was less touchy. then switch back to the -1. after that, i want more gearing, but for now its perfect for my no-circle style.

I have a 71 tooth and love it. Get used to the twitch and everything will come easy! Used to run small gears but I will never go back now.

Agreed. Big gearing is so much fun once you get used to it.
