Re: Phonebook method.Tank dent
as for the welded lip has anyone thought about or tried using round bar to weld on the tank? would not have a sharp lip and could grind the tips down. also easy to bend. i have been thinking of doing that when i dent my tank.

Re: Phonebook method.Tank dent
i've done like 5 or 6 03/04 636 tanks so far and they are by far the easiest tanks to do out of any others like gixers or r6's they can be a bitch. ive never used bondo on any tank either, if you do it right you wont need to. cut splash gaurd out, keep cap on, startin hitting at the back of the cap and work your way around. once you get it down where you want it make sure its completely flat and not cocked to one side then just work out as far as you want to go n ur set.

Re: Phonebook method.Tank dent
This is a nice *** idea i welded a lip on mine and the sharp lip makes my knees tremble just looking at it. I wish i would of read this a month ago i think the best method would be to cut a pipe down the middle and weld a half of it on no bondo and no sharp lip.

Re: Phonebook method.Tank dent
Does the bondo have a problem cracking in the back like that? I bonoed the front of my tank, but left the back portion all fiberglass so I don't gotta worry about it cracking. Was worried about jumping to frogs
my f4i dent, just used a rubber mallet lol... I beat on it slowly forever, I got the main shape down, then just slowly went around forming it into a bowl shape. Didn't hurt that in highschool metalshop I made a bowl out of a flat piece of aluminum with a hammer lol

Nice Idea with the zipties! Tank looks nice as well.

only thing about the pipe cut in half is how u going to bend it. if u bend after u cut it the bends will crease. if u bend it first it will be hard to cut

Re: Phonebook method.Tank dent
I was just thinking earlier when I seen the lips welded on how nice a flat style dent with a lip welded on would be! I think I may have to pick up another tank over winter. You would be able to hold alot of gas, streets suck when you cant hold much gas!!

Don't take your fuel pump out, I got a new tank and wasn't thinking and dented it before putting my fuel pump in and than had to make room for my fuel pump!
