Unless it is private access and can't be accessed by vehicles off the road, then techincally the cops are right..

Now it does sound like they are being *********, but simply being on private property doesn't mean you can break the law..


You can't do drugs, or kill people on private property..


Also, say even you did pour a parking lot, had it all setup, fenced in, blocked from the road. Your city could simply make an ordinance, banning you from riding at that spot..


What ***** me up though, is what if you were at the same exact place, riding a dirt bike in the dirt? Jumping jumps, doing wheelies? I bet they wouldn't have said a word.
Just simply the fact your on a 'road bike' probably makes the cops think you must always follow all rules of the road which is fucked up

FTP and ride of the centuries in a whole lot more places sounds like a good idea to me! lets see them stop 700+ bikes, We got to make our issues known and demand they change these bullshit laws that infringe on our rights. They are taking are freedom away and we let them. We have a government controlled by the people, If we get enough people together and makes some serious noise they cant ignore us!!Something needs done about all these crazy ******* laws that limit every little thing we can do.

The larger the group the more the cops turn their heads... Look at woodstock... people openly selling drugs.... It may not be legal on private property but in certain circumstances they seem to allow it!

+1 We should get one going here in GA. We could meet up in Atown, and kill the streets all the way up into the north GA mountains. We could ride into the Helen area to Blood Mountain, hit a couple nice turns after killin the streets. Maybe something could be worked out with a state park up there like Unicoi State Park. They have cabins, a lake and camping spots. If we told those greedy bastards we were gonna have a large turnout of a hundred or more, maybe they'd be willing to allow us to close off a road or parking lot in the park area. Maybe a permit of some sort? The fact that they oversee the roads, and we'd be up in the mountains away from society, the few cops that are up there would turn their heads? Just wishful thinking, but anythings possible

 

^ i like the whole legal way and everything, but i feel something more drastic needs to take place. We need to send the state leg. and other politics a loud message that says: Hey you corny *** ******* we are only growing in numbers and its only going to get worse, so ease up, change laws, make sanctions, or do something! Or we will continue to wreak havoc on the streets. I dont know guess i just have a passion for the rebel let our opinions be heard kinda solutions, but look how things of that nature have worked in the past. Seems to well in many other scenarios. Wow, I had no idea that's how it worked. I thought once you were on Private Property then you were good to go for riding.

I wonder if there's "Laying Drag" ordinances in my state or others....

 

the way the ga. law is written u can law a black mark 10 miles long and they can not get u for laying drag as long as it is perfectly straight. went to court 3 weeks ago with my wife who spun the tires about 2 ft. and got the charge changed by the judge. the cops could not prove that the truck moved side to side in any way. $600 laying drag ticket was changed to a $100 wreckless driving charge. less money but more points.:banghe ad the way the law is written my 8 yr old son can be doing dounuts in the back yard on a 4 wheeler and they can cite him.

 

i was told it was because of people going onto private prop.(church parking lots etc.) that it was written that way. in n.c. the cops have to have permission from the land owners before they can write a ticket for laying drag on private prop. from what i was told.

 

we have 3 cops here that chill at the spot and watch....other than them 3 **** em! Its bs when they do this **** and i know it happens alot.....

If i was you i would get a petition started. Have everyone that rides drives etc. sign the **** to eliminate such bs LAW!!!!

Matt, I think part of what they said was bs. I had a GC cop knock on my door for riding slow wheelies in my neighborhood (on a ttr with no traffic before anyone freaks out) and I asked him where I could ride legally. He said I needed written permission and close the lot.

This is all bullshit. We try to be responsible with our sport by taking it to the lots. Cops should recognize and appriciate what we are doing. Instead, we are harassed and threatened for trying to be safe about it. For anyone who doesnt know, this spot is VERY well out of the way of ALL traffic.

 

Problem is, stuntriding isn't nationally accepted as a "real" sport. These pigs don't look us as if we are athletes, they see us as punks pullin wheelies.
