Cops Please post up on this (laying drag)

So my team and an Athens GA team (Habitual stuntriderz)was stunting yesterday in our usual parking lot, that we have been stunting at for about 2 years now.

we have verbal permission to ride there, but the owners wont give us written permission even if we sign the stunt liabaility form and ... They just dont want the hassle of the legalities involved if someone gets hurt.. cause theres always a loop hole in everything, and lawyers will find something to sue them for so...

So we get surrounded by several county cop cars, and they yell at us to take our helmets off.. and blah blah....

Then the leader of the group, starts threatening jail and a laying drag ticket. which he claims is a 800 dollar ticket, so we play there game and act all cool with them like they want... and they make us leave...

We asked a ton of questions to them about the whole laying drag ticket thing, and it sounds like some law that was put in place that cops can give a ticket for just about anything...

they said that its not wreckless driving, you dont have to be even doing a burnout, or spinning tires to get it. They also said it wouldnt matter if we had written permission on private property, they could still give us a ticket for laying drag...

I asked if it were my property and i poured a lot specifically for stunt riding... could I still get this ticket and they said yes... Sounds like total BS to me...

But I want to hear what other (edited)... I mean cops have to say

I say we start organizing Ride of the centuries in every city across the US and make them want us to tride in lots... then maybe they wil leave us alone.... or give us stunt parks like they do for skaters...

Doesn't that mean that everyone that races in NASCAR, drift races, dirtbikes, any vehicle in any race in any format can get a ticket????? Are they gonna be sitting at a racetrack handing out tickets?????

racetracks have specific permissions to do these things. when you build a parking lot, you are asked what it will be used for (to park in...duh). You arent saying that is is going to be an exhibition area for a motorsport. If you want to build a place to do that, you have to get a few special permits. This is how the racetracks can get away with it.

Now if there is a parking lot already built, and you would just like to do a stunt show for a day or a weekend, you can apply for a permit that allows you to legally stunt.

Re: Cops Please post up on this (laying drag)

Never heard of it. I'm assuming that's a Georgia state law?

It'll stick until someone gets arrested for it, fights it, and it's changed in a higher court. So who gets to be the first to get it and fight it on here?

Re: Cops Please post up on this (laying drag)

Just found this as well... Looks like Laying drag is a serious offence... without a very clear terminology

Court Appearance
If you receive a citation, you have the right to appear in court and contest the charge. However, if you pay your fine prior to the assigned court date, no court appearance is necessary. By paying your fine prior to court, you are pleading guilty to the offense as charged. Court appearances are, however, mandatory for all charges for which the offender was placed under arrest and incarcerated. Court appearances are also mandatory for the following traffic offenses:
1 - Homicide by vehicle
2 - Any felony in which a vehicle is used
3 - Hit and Run or Leaving the Scene of an Accident
4 - Racing
5 - Laying Drag
6 - Reckless Driving
7 - Feticide by vehicle
8 - Serious injury by vehicle
9 - Homicide or serious injury by interfering with traffic control device or railroad sign/signal
10 - Controlled substance or marijuana offenses pursuant to OCGA 40-5-75
11 - Driving on suspended or revoked license
12 - Driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs
13 - Following too close with an accident involved
14 - Fraudulent or fictitious use of driver's license
15 - Aggressive driving
