954 and it's garbage rear brake?

Anybody with a 954 is welcome to chime in here... my 636 isn't streetable so me and the roomies built a 954 for some street sessions. Now I've dragged tail effortlessly on it before and never noticed an issue with the rear brake, but this year my god... it won't even slow the bike down. I've tried everything... here we go.

2 954 calipers, 1 f4i caliper, 2 steel braided lines, 3 sets of pads, 2 rotors, all different banjo bolts, 2 954 masters, 1 f4i master with the 954 end piece on it... ****.. my hands are on fire from all the brake fluid I've gone through.

Anybody have any advice? I'm swapping out the rotor and the bracket tonight when my roomate gets back with the bike... mr chychull hinted at a bent bracket... possibly, I'm gonna slap another one on there and see if it makes a difference... right now the brake pedal is rock solid with no feel and no power. it has full and smooth travel when it's not bled all the way, but as soon as it gets full pressure there's nothin.

thats insane, seems like youve covered every base bro, what brake fluid are you using? that and the bracket and footbrake assembly itself are the only things you havent changed (as far as ive read)

Re: 954 and it's garbage rear brake?

MY suggestion would be to sit behind the bike while someone is sitting on it and hitting the brake. Watch the caliper real clsoe and see if it looks like its cockin back and fourth while there hitting the brake. If so yea the brackets bent and it is makign the pads not sit flush on the rotor. Second, rotor surface is trashed and not seated in with the pads. My third suggestion is easy, put a four piston as the foot brake and never worry about anything again.

a four piston on the footbrake would be overkill wouldnt it?

Re: 954 and it's garbage rear brake?

i feel your pain i had alot of troubles with my 954 when i was setin it up and my old 929. i had a warped rotor on my 929 i couldnt see it by just looking, i borrowed a friends and it was perfectly fine, on my 954 was worse the seal on the piston would make it stick 2 much junk just built up, brake pad particals, dust etc..also if your master cylinders have been used with a teardrop handbrake setups its very common aluminum shavings can total the internals. by the time you read this i bet the rotor will fix it... possibly the pedal where it turns on the peg may be full of junk and/or peg may have been bent.. good luck bro
