i love my powers cages

thaT BEING SAID my friend owns 2x 05 636 stunt pieces both with powers cages...one old cage( about 2 years old) and one he just got about a month ago, the old one is rock solid, but is a bit wide and e does scrape it from time to time, but the new one is alot narrower and he never hits, and he drifts like he's in a ******* 240, moral of story old powers are bigger then any thing new from him...

The DOM which I've never heard of seems like a good inbetween, but that's just a guess.
That's probably why Tigershark has great reviews, their cage have spring loaded sliders to absorb some impact before initial contact between the cage and concrete. Kind of like a crumplezone.

spring loaded sliders are a gimmick.......... to have that effectively work would need to be turned into a science. OK.... so a bike weighs 400lbs, you find a spring that will take 500-600lbs to compress it... thats fine if the bike falls off the kick stand, but how much pressure is induced when the bike has some inertia behind it.... the impact could be 2-3000lbs or more, the spring will fully compress as if it wasnt even there at all. Ever seen commercials for "the magic bullet"? I love them! Make home made Alfredo in less than 30 seconds!!!! ok, so the machine will produce the Alfredo sauce in 30 seconds, it still takes 20 minutes to boil noodles and another 10 minutes to prepare the ingredients to fit in the ******* machine. Things are not always what they seem!

Point taken, never actually thought about what kind of springs they actually put in the sliders, but yeah, you're def. on point with that.

And at the magic bullet.

You commented on the very last sentence of my paragragh, what about the first part.

Doubt it!!!!!

I don't think the spring does that much but it probally does help and so does a lifetime warranty!!!!

when YOU physically jump on a scale, what does it go up to? I guarantee it goes up to triple your body weight before settling at your actual body weight. same with a sledge hammer..... how much impact force do you think you can apply with a 20lb sledge at full swing? Its the same thing......... you'd pretty much need a coil spring off a car to absorb the energy of an out of control bike. Take a science class.

Re: Impaktech cages are fu$%ing ridiculous!!!

The 2 cages do look very similar, but you have to keep in mind there are only so many ways you can design a cage that has the same impact points on every.single.motorcycle.

The springs are there to keep the slider in place. The rubber piece absorbs all the gorilla slams..However they could use heavy springs but its much easier for everyone to buy a 50 cent rubber sponge at home depot then to custom order strong springs if it wears down.

Wait...was the rubber piece an insider secret? No one seems to know thats what does all the work. Sorry apex didnt mean to blow your operation

Because a sponsored rider is skilled and doesnt crash often. They dont have time to install something that wont matter either way to them.
