F4i electrical issue
F4i electrical issue
power on my bike is cutting out, when im riding it, the motor dies but everything stays lit up, when I jiggle wires up near my headlight sometimes everything goes completely dead. any ideas? my tip over sensor wires look ok, I jumped the plug with a piece of solid copper that I filed flat, shaped into a staple and pressed in tightly with pliers and then wrapped in electrical tape. I don't see how that connection could go bad. Are there wires getting pulled out of the big grey plug? where is the main plug for the fuel pump? is that under the tank? I want to check that just as a precaution. I'm pretty sure its something up front. Battery terminals are rock solid. I have also noticed that my battery seems to be getting kinda weak. Its a brand new battery that I installed last season.
Re: F4i electrical issue
Could be anything, you gotta find out what connection is bad..
On my f4i, turned out the harness going to my KILL SWITCH was bad.. I had to splice the wires and solder them
but your problem could be anything

Re: F4i electrical issue
A few things to try (and answers to your questions).
1. The main plug for the fuel pump is accessible on the bottom side of the tank. Reseat it.
2. Change your fuel filter (inside the tank).
3. Change your fuel pressure regulator.
4. Swap out a known good ECU with someone else's F4i.

I'm pretty sure its in the wiring up near the headlights. occasionally those wires fall down and contact the wheel but are not damage in any way. I catch it every time it happens (in the lot) need stronger zip-ties!

I was just curious if anyone knew of specific things to look at or specific wires that would cause the issues I have so I have a starting point in my diagnostics. wiring is a bitch!
YSRFAG appreciates the help!
