i have an 07 zx6r it comes stock with 16 teeth front , 43 teeth rear, and 108 link chain.. just bought a 15 teeth front and 55 rear. how many links do i add to the chain? i'm guessing 11 but not sure

 

your answer would be drumroll please take the difference in tooth size divide by 2 then add one link

 

Well 1 link goes over 1 tooth. Thats at least 12 more links for 12 more teeth plus at least 1 more just in case.

 

55-43=12links+1=13links

7 links you didnt divde. should be 115 links so buy 120 links and cut it down

 

i thought the number of links had to be an even number? you cant just take out one link, because then you end on either two inner links or two outer links. thats why your chain comes as an even number, but the master link is out. without the master link, it has inner links on both ends. when you add the master, making it an even number, you have it where it ends one side in an inner link, and then the master link(outer link) and they fit into each other. wouldnt it have to be even?

you aren't gona just add a new piece of chain to a used one are you? even if both pieces of chain are new i wouldn't want two master links. Danger!
