new chain or 2 master links?

buddy is giving me his 52 tooth sprocket.

I have -1 and +2 now.

Should i buy a whole new chain or just get a second master link and few spare links lying around?

thoughts?

thanks,

should go new but ive ran 2 masters even side by side before and never had an issue, depends on quality of the chain i think, do it just to try it out and see if you like the gearing, then you can decide if you want more or less or like it before cutting a new chain to fit right to it

Re: new chain or 2 master links?

As mentioned, don't cheap out when it comes to a chain. When they let go the best case scenario is they shoot out the back of the bike. Most times they wrap up around the front sprocket and destroy the engine case. If you're really lucky it can whip up and take out part of your leg.

Moral of the story, always go with a good chain even if you have to save up a bit longer

I've gotta post pictures of my bike after a master link busted last weekend at about 70mph on my way home. It destroyed the plastic undertail and broke through the tail between the seats. I'll spare the photos of the whelp on my ***.

New chain. Certain things you dont cheap out on if you value your life.
