get a dazzle and import it right into adobe from the camera or use firewire if you got ports for it

lots of file converters out there too... look on adobe's site for plug in's to accept that file type. I know cs4 will take just about everything

you have a camera that records to the avchd format...a relatively new format as far as cameras go...and yes, a pain in the butt to edit with...

do a search for an avchd conversion software like this one...(I don't know if that one is any good, just happened to be the first thing that came up in google)...

on top of that, I hope you have an editing system that is up to snuff because these files will beat it like a nickel *****... ideally quad core processors with minimum 6gb of ram on either a 64bit system or a mac on steriods...

as I am reading as well, Premiere CS4 does import native .MTS files so if you upgrade to CS4 you won't even need a converter I think... but the files will still be a bitch to work with...

Ross, you should see what we are doing this year!! Hit me up buddy, I have some new super secret sneaky footage from the new cams to show you, and the project is sick!

thanks for the tips and hints chris, i was going to pm you about this if you didnt reply my computer is loaded like a mo fo with some major fruit and yeah your right the hd files (avchd) are massive (i was having probs with the files shaking when i played them when the cam was set to mxp)........... but i guess you get that when you want some huge quality

do you work with these type of files?

coz the only program that ive downloaded (ive downloaded 6 editing programs so far) thats even accepted the files has been what t-dubby suggested ....................... ...ss is looking out for me tho
