want a gauge light!
Re: want a gauge light!
I tried to do it too, with like no gas I used a test lamp to figure which wires had power, then filled up and did it again, thinking 1 less wire would have power, but no, gave up and got a mountain bike speedo.
Re: want a gauge light!
Don't forget that LED stands for Light Emitting Diode. The light it only flows one way, so make sure you ground the correct side of the LED, otherwise it won't light up.
Re: want a gauge light!
So I tried it again and again - nothing lol. Hopefully Lee Majors will post up what he did that worked and then I'll give it a shot again

Re: want a gauge light!
back when cj was still riding with us , me and him spend almost a week trying to figure out how to do this . if u take apart the sensor in the tank , its a resistor that sends a different resistance in ohms to the gauge cluster when there is no fuel touching it . good luck cause i gave the hell up !

with all that work i'll probably just keep filling up every time i stop somewhere lol. from what lee majors posted up - it was as simple as tappin into the res sens wire where the gauges would plug in but it never worked for me and he posted up that his light stopped working for him too
it would be very nice though to have a gas light

Re: want a gauge light!
that always loooks like garbage, especially witht the f4i gauges, my 636 cant do that cuz u dont see the airbox
my boss is pissed i used all the printers paper and ink
that would be the only way to register it by how many/fast times it spins.but there has to be a way to do this i know it, there has to some kinda gauge u can wire up or a way to tap into this line. someone is gonna get rich of they come up with one if they already dont, hell i dont need an lcd i will be satisfied with like 4 lights or something; oil presser light, gas light, temp, and fi light...

Re: want a gauge light!
I got the LED to light up but it just stayed on after i started the engine
Also, there is no black/brown wire (for the low fuel) on the wireharness that connects to the gauge.
A lil help Lee Majors.

Well I just checked the manual and the res sens for the fuel is the brown/black wire. the FI light is the White/Blue wire. When I attempted this it didnt work and then MikeM asked me if I tried swapping the wires - maybe I had the ground/power wires backwards
So I tried it again and again - nothing lol. Hopefully Lee Majors will post up what he did that worked and then I'll give it a shot again
