Neil i used the thin piece of aluminum and riveted it to plastic backing of the seat. I think fiberglass will crack quickly.. proly the first time u stand on it lol

 

not a bad idea I was thinking of doing the same but mine seems to be moderatly strong

Do you got a pic of what youre talkin about? I dont remember seein anything on your seat. Im probably gonna put the **** back together and then during the week scoop up some aluminum to try it out. On my tail I put 14 layers of fiberglass where I stand for SS and that **** hasnt went no where but thats also 14 layers compared to 2 layers that I was thinking of. Dont laugh at me lol but Im having mom dukes hook up the seat cover. Shes with her sewing game lol. Im guessing the aluminum would go under the new seat cover and secured to the plastic from under the seat

 

if u take ur seat off the bike and look @ back of it.. the plastic.. that's where i riveted the aluminum.

trix i haven't even gotten a chance to mess wit the tank im hopin to put in some work on that 2 nite

So um question. Here's a pic of the seat before the mama customization lol. The pic where I put the rectangle on it - that would be where the aluminum goes and then have it riveted to the plastic underneath Do my bs drawings make any sense lol



Would I have the alumnum fold underneath to rivet to the bottom of the plastic



And dont mind my tape job. It wont look that bad in about an hour lol

 

Ahahahahaha Nick 1 geezy just called me asking what I was smoking I think I got what youre saying now I never used a rivet gun befo' so thats why I'm a little confused. Ima go pick one up tho from HD along with some aluminum and try to piece it together. I'll look out for your pic tho fo sho before I do anything

Okay so the aluminum isnt where the actual hole is right? Its underneath the seat for extra support I thought you meant have the aluminum where my rectangle was for extra support when you put your foot on there but its not like that, right?

 

geeze *** neil if the aluminum is over the hole how the F are u gona put ur foot in it...?!?!? all its doing is adding strength to the plastic seat backing since we are removing a huge piece of it.

 

LOL. I dont mean over the hole - initially I thought you meant against the padding and you would rest your foot on the aluminum - like in my pic with the rectangle. You know Ima little slow when it comes to this ****

 

ok i got wat ur saying but no there is nothing to rivet the aluminum too there. i think the way i did it is gona be the strongest but anyone with better ideas lay it on me.

 

Nah your idea is cool but thats why I was confused at first and asked if the aluminums gotta be bent at a 90 degree angle or something. I got what youre saying though and Ima run to home depot to pick up some aluminum and a rivet gun I got mom dukes pimpin my seats right now lol so I'll add the aluminum once shes done and tomorrow its on like butta popcorn

 

If you do enough layers, fiberglass is as strong as steel

When you build a speaker box out of fiberglass, your supposed to make it strong enough to JUMP on without it flexing.. If it flexes at all it's not enough layers

I put over 15 layers of glass in my tail right across the part where you stand, its strong as ****. Could beat it with a hammer and just chip the paint

 

Youre the one who told me how to FG my tail for SS's and its strong as ****. I cracked my tail in other spots but not where I stand lol. I was just confused about the part he was speaking of when it came to reinforcing that area from cutting a hole in the seat But the hole is cut and Ima post up some pictures later once mom dukes puts the new vinyl on for me

Word my tail where I stand is strong as ****. When I got the tail it had a small crack in it but layed 14 layers of glass and its still all good. The end of the tail cracked the other week coz my squidly *** keeps coming back to the bar practicing circles but I took it off and layed a few more layers of glass and its as good as new lol. Thats why when I didnt know what he was talkin about I figured lemme throw come FG on it and it'll be all good lol.
