that sounds good if it could be pulled off...id be all for helping howeveri could but once again every state has an unlimited amount of riders that feel they should be paid...how would you go about picking them out?? like having to fill out a resume to and refrences ?

not trying to brag,but i was one of the first to stunt pro in the US. i was also the second to have a video in the market that did very well
also first to be nominated for the first extremy for a street video
the only crew besides us was starboyz at that time.
both of our crews pioneered what is todays stunting as well as alot of other people.

ya,alot of what todays scene is from what we layed tracks on and alot of big name peeps where kids when we were doing are thing. lol
im a little crunchy these days,but 6 yrs away was too long so i had to make one more comeback for **** and grins to show all the haters that said we were power wheelie kings,that we were skilled and its all jus a dif style now blended with are old styles.
it took me a day to catch idle 3 to scrape and not very long to begin circles.
point made, now i cant stop again! lol
so **** it looks like im gonna try and run this **** til im in my 40's! lol

i love coming on here and reading all the threads and stuff and seeing what has become of what we only dreamed of in 98-99. it absolutely amazing to me to see how big it is now and i love whatching all the new peeps rock out!

sounds like a good idea, a good base for making the sport grow . i like the idea but it would be hard to get every1 on board

I was out for about 4 years myself. My daughter was born in 03' and I went out! I was Reckless Endangerment here in Fl. We weren't the best but back then no one was really "pro". We were an underground society and thats what I want to help END!

ya after that crash i had in stuntfest 2 i was out for good i thought.lol

shattered wrist 4 crushed ribs and a tear in my diaphram had me spending mad time with the kids! lol

i couldnt stay away when i popped up last year and saw my boy paul from MONKEY TACTTICTS killing circle combos and hc o's. i was like what the ****???? lol

inspired my old *** to come back and give it one more run for the money!!

Are you going to give shows to riders by senoirity like Unions do?

 

No my idea is to get riders in the area of the show based on the type of venue, the style of rider then need, the terrain (ex: track with a grade, or small area etc..), and we can get a "profile" so to speak of each rider in the union and let the customer see and maybe let them help pick. Thats something we'd have to figure out! good question bro!

 

You may run into a problem with the few riders out there that make what money they can by doing shows across the country. Maybe a little feedback outta them?

I admit I haven't read this whole thread but I think I got your main concept.

It would deffinatley need to be an "all or none" buy in from the riders out there or the few stragglers would undercut the union for enough to get the job.

That's kinda like construction, most of the "Non-union companies" get most of the work because they are willing to do the work for a little less because they pay their employees a little less and get the same basic quality.

 

I like the idea. I'm no stunter, but def interested in getting involved in the sport as a hobby to start, and then see where my skills take me.

The profile idea is good, teams could make demo's that the reps could show to the potential clients to review and help pick.

Riders could be graded on a point scale like they do in other sports(billiards comes to mind) to determine one's skill level. Cost depending on skill level of hired stunt team. So budget determines quality.

Resume's, portfolios, references. All good things to have, regardless of union or not.

 

I know a lot of riders already have demo's but for the reps to have "on tap" to show clients what their performances would look like.

 

I am on the band wagon! I think its a great turn for our sport..although you will still get your few wannabe stunters who will still work for peanuts because they feel like they are getting paid to o what they do in a lot.....Screw Them talent will show.


As for ATL weve got it covered...there are several riders and a couple pretty big teams....Like ATLfreestyle and adrenalineboyz....we all get along and help eachother out, and we alll ride together every week. Differnt teams =same love! bottom line...I would never cut another teams throat for money, and i know they would do the same for our team.

Heres a valid point to add also....The dude who gets into a box and explodes the box, and catches on fire at monster truck events makes big bank, and he only shocks and awes for like 5 seconds....This is the change we need, And if it sticks I really believe everyone will get theres! And we will start getting the rep we want!

in advertising people pay more attention to high price stuff as oppossed to cheap stuf, whether its the same quality or not, right now we are looked at as a dime a dozen, dollar store item.....You know why you see so many asians on golf courses...because they cant afford it in their country...theres not enough land, so therefor the prices are jacked way way up.....most of them have never even golfed or will probably like it..but because of the pedestal its held on....it must be tasted!

 

dsog basically already does this with monster truck shows and some other stuff as well....

as for the union, good idea in theory...makes me feel like i'm back in 01 or 02 though and i think the same problems still exist for the most part, especially with smaller, independent promoters...there is always someone who will do it cheaper and if they don't want the value they won't pay for it.

sport is still not really big enough to warrant anything like this imo...in the situations where it is warranted (live nation/dsog) it sort of works itself out automatically. I dare say that there are a handful of riders who in a sense act like an unofficial union....but so many problems arise from something liek this.

Chris its all good bro, it's just an idea to try to push the sport towards being a real tangible service. I have known Thomas from the Black Sheep days and when he 1st started up XSBA before XDL. I remember the event where Guinness book was out there to do the stoppie comp with Colbert and them at Daytona Speedway! It was ******* great to see our sport raised up to that lever! Thomas does a great job at it but he is limited as to the amount of shows he can book. My concept is to start a union of people who do what he does FOR the stunters and who make sure no matter what venue they do they are getting paid fair wages and being compensated for their time, fuel, food, travel, and skill! I know its far fetched but I'm just trying to push the sport to the next level. If promoters and the general public sees you as a bunch of street level punks and hooligans who's services are easily obtained and generally worthless you'll never get the respect and compensation you deserve! Some of the bigger guys have made it because they have a name and have done what it took to get to the top. The problem is there is a lot of other talent out there that is in some cases better than the "pros" but they don't have the resources to get the recognition they deserve. Maybe this can help!

professional: small & large show
alot of guys dont even know what a good reasonable price is
