anybody know where the thread is explaining what you need to do to put an 05 swingarm on an 03-04?? i have the swingarm, axle, spacers and bolt connecting to frame....

 

I don't know where the thread is. It sounds like you have everything though. I think you need to use the spacers from the 03/04.

 

i have a rim for the 05 swingarm, but then i would need to buy a front rim too......so i'm gonna stick with the 03 rims, looks like i have to re weld the brake bracket but other than that it looks like it will bolt up

 

just switch the 04 dust seals onto the 05 swingarm. and use the o4 spacers and stuff.

whats the benefit of the newer swingarm? and i know people swap to newer front end but is there a benefit to swaping a 05/06 rear shock in a 03/04 in either newer or older swingarm setups?

I think the 04 will work, but you might as well use the 05. I know to use the 05 shock you have to use the frame mount from the 04 shock.

Use the 05 shock because the res on the 03-04 will get the **** smacked out of it when you clutch up. Willie found that out the hard way. Here is a few pics of mine.

im doing that swap right now to my bike, but im keeping the 04 shock. I heard it was ok to use it so ill give it a shot. Hopefully it will all be done by friday, ill try to get some shots when its all ready anyways heres the thread

mine is all 04 stuff, spacers dust seals shock linkage etc. it makes the *** end of the bike stick up more, better for no handers etc. the bp is a little higher. on coasters it will just float with no brake if you get to the sweet spot....

just use the 04 stuff no need to buy extra **** u dont need

 

why the **** would he want a 06 motor for?

 

yup mine has that sweet spot, where is just sits there with no brake even at very slow speed....

RYAN S if you want to use a 03/04 rear wheel on the 05+ swing arm, your going to need to make your own custom caliper bracket that is thinner then the stock one....The hub in the center of the 03/04 rims is wider then the 05 and will not fit between the swingarm with the stock caliper bracket....OMR made his own out of steel I think....

my 03-04 shock was hitting the swingarm because the res is to the right. i switched out to the 05-06 shock and it is all good now
